That is just my opinion of religious hardliners in general and not exclusive to Iran either.
A video of a burning plane flying back toward Tehran and exploding in a fiery crash on the same night ICBMs were being launched by a country under credible threats of major retaliatory force by a spray-tanned Nazi counts as bigly evidence. And youāve already admitted to using Bayesian inferenceāalbeit in a weird, biased way that leads you to the answer long after everyone else has figured it out. You can never be too careful I guess?

Itās just a massive logical error to suppose that anything other than the plane being shot down took place. You are allowed to wait for confirmation, of course, but given the confluence of circumstances that plane is shot down 99% of the time.
That doesnāt mean you bet your life on it. But if youāre making long-winded posts about how we need to wait, or if that is even a thought in your mind, you need to introspect.

So interestingly I think governments lying is whatās poisoning our Democracies. I think governmentās have always lied sometimes, but that things like cover ups used to work better (there not being video of absolutely everything Iām sure helped) and it was much harder for the news that they had lied to get out.
Now of course we all get exposed to every single time they lie, despite the fact that as a % of total information coming out from the government the lies (unless weāre talking specifically about this WH) are a tiny tiny fraction.
There has been a major revolution in technology over the last 30 years, and I just donāt think the governments of the world have adapted to it. Things like classification and telling lies tactically are pretty bad now, and they just havenāt figured it out.
To return to one of my favorite recent metaphors itās like generals in WW1. They had spent their entire lives studying warfare as it had been for thousands of years before the machine gun. They had just started to really grasp the ramifications of modern artillery but the machine gun really made their entire education/experience obsolete. I think most modern governments tactics and strategies have been completely invalidated by the internet wrt secrets, official statements, and lying in general.
Basically every time they lie it does massive harm to social trust, trust in the government, and it greatly enhances the credibility of conspiracy theorists. I think this is going to get a lot worse before they figure it out tbhā¦ but Donald Trump is president right now largely because of this situation.
I also think we need to look at anonymity on the internet generally. We can have free speech or we can have anonymity/privacy on the internetā¦ I suspect that having both is really bad news.

The Trump supporters I know donāt have their own opinions and merely share memes they find on social media.
