I have no idea why I play this stupid game every year. Losing is 10x more annoying than winning is fun. It’s just like poker.
This is 1,000% true, and fantasy easily brings me much more misery than pleasure.
That being said, it does feel pretty great to sit here with a beer and observe that this week features a clash of the titans: #1 me vs. #2 @superuberbob, and I am prevailing:
Looking forward to my entire season crashing starting right now.
I thought Kelce scoring a td early last night was the nail in the coffin.
That 49er defense has already paid for itself.
Didn’t go well at WR for me this week. Even if I started the best performing receivers, it wouldn’t be enough.
Guess who is no longer winless…. This guy!
Somehow I score the second highest point total of the week against the 0-3 team and still have to eat the loss.
Dropped a bunch on running backs. Think Tyler Aligeier is gonna take a huge step forward in the next few weeks and Boone might take control of the Broncos backfield.
Man, I need an adequate RB2.
Yeah I guess my $3 waiver claims for those guys isn’t doing anything but waste my own time. I need to get over my stinginess and build some depth before bye weeks start kicking in
I thought $20 on Algiers might have given me a shot, but came in a distant third.
Boone seems fine, but pretty speculative.
In FAAB, I tend to blow my load a bit early. Not like that money’s real.
Plus dishing $40 for 13 weeks of a player’s performance is very different from just a couple of weeks of one.
Yeah I guess I was waiting for the super obvious pickup to materialize and blow my whole budget on a single player, but a lot of players with that potential are already on rosters as handcuffs or actually don’t become such an obvious investment the first week they are grabbed.
Anyway I will get DeAndre Hopkins week 7 and Elijah Mitchell hopefully becomes healthy around week 9 and then (barring other injuries) I’ll have a strong squad for the later season stretch. If I can manage .500 until then maybe I have a chance without a winning an important waiver wire signing
Yeah, I think I’ll reduce the roster size next year to make the FAAB market more active and useful.
The faab system is awesome.
Hating myself for cutting Allgeier last week. Impatience has been killing me.
Roster size is fine, imo. Benches are really short for a league with 10 starters.
Well one way to increase the bench size would be to increase roster size.
Other option is to decrease starters. I would entertain the idea of doing a league without kicker and/or defense.
I like kicker and defense. If you are going to do anything I’d eliminate IR. I’ve never been a fan of that. I think that it accomplishes your initial goal.
I think kickers are dumb and should go, but definitely agree IR is bad for activity. No IR forces teams to make hard decisions when players injured and add to waiver wire fun.
I like IR. To some extent it helps mitigate the impact of bad injury luck. It also mimics what happens in real football.
I think it would be good if it could only be used for players who are actually on IR in real life though. I’m not sure how yahoo actually implements it, but I don’t think people should be able to use it for guys who have questionable or doubtful designation for a given week but are still on their team’s active roster.
Yahoo only allows players on IR if they’re declared out due to injury or actually placed on IR.
This sucks because often players are deemed questionable when they’re clearly going to be out. It prevents me from putting that player on IR and picking up a new player.
I picked up OBJ after rumors swirled around about him being picked up, thinking I’d be able to place him on IR after he hit my roster but I was wrong.
Anyway, I’m definitely opposed to removing IR spots from rosters. Like you said bbb, it mitigates bad luck due to injuries;.
Is the entire god-damned NFL listed as questionable right now?
