I kinda suspect it’s all just optics around the fact that they have to pull back the forces around Kyiv anyways before they’re destroyed, so why not call it a strategic pivot rather than a defeat. Seems unlikely that those troops are good for much of anything at the moment.

After this, how the hell are these soldiers gonna have the morale for another invasion? I mean they’re basically useless to the Russian government once they come back.
