FBI has stepped up its recruiting efforts in the US, hoping to attract Russians who are dissatisfied or disillusioned with the war. People standing in close proximity to the Russian Embassy in Washington, DC, can see the ads, which appear in Russian, on Facebook, Twitter, and Google.
One ad appeared in a Washington Post reporter’s Facebook feed when he was standing on the sidewalk next to the embassy’s walls on Wisconsin Avenue NW, but none appeared in his feed when he crossed the street.
President Joe Biden said Thursday that NATO would respond “in kind” if Russia uses weapons of mass destruction in Ukraine.
“We will respond if he uses it,” Biden said, referring to Russian President Vladimir Putin. “The nature of the response depends on the nature of the use.”
The Ukrainians have had scattered units in that area all along. There has been a lot of Ukrainians liberating towns near Kyiv only to leave the next day
Finally the FBI targeting in the right ballpark. Wait can the FBI recruit foreigners? I guess it makes sense, they recruit FBI informants, but I guess it feels like a classic CIA area.
I mean they’re not too wrong, but they should probably figure out how to get gasoline and rations from point A to point B 200 miles away before envisioning the fall of the West.
I think the key point is that specific town cuts off the main highway from the east that was being used to supply the units on the eastern edge of Kyiv. If you look at a map, it appears you either need to go off-road or else loop all the way around to the Kyiv-Chernihiv highway, which I think is also not especially secure for Russia.
