Way back when this all started, I commented on how Ukrainians have been taught generation after generation that if they let Russia take over the country, what they will do is unconscionable, like they once literally just starved millions of them and they would do it again. You can’t intimidate people if they fear your occupation more than they fear being shot on the spot.
