Ukraine, Russia, and the West

No, I mean someone could be carrying a small innocuous implement such as a pen which is sufficient to kill the target with a minimal amount of contact because it is tipped with a strong poison such as ricin or anthrax, a radioactive element such as polonium, or a biochemical agent such as Novichok.

How is that someone going to get close to Zelensky though? Give the pen to Anderson Cooper and hope he gives it to Zelensky before he kills himself with it?

Not sure killing Z does all that much to help the Russian advance. Ukrainians are still going to keep fighting back.

Well, that’s kind of why I was wondering about the in person interviews. Is it just the reporter or crew as as well? I was just thinking out loud, really.

It muddies the waters on who the next leader will be, creates a power vacuum. Resolve will dampen at least a little.

Morale? Power vacuum? I have no idea, but obviously Putin does want him pretty dead if the reports of hordes of assassins hunting him are even a little bit true.

And most military radar is going to be filtered to exclude very low speed stuff regardless of size, right?

I’m sure the reporter travels with the whole crew and is not introduced to them while in Ukraine. The crew is probably vetted extensively as well before leaving from the US, UK, France, etc.

But those big Turkish drones are just going to get absolutely lit up by Russian air defense stuff, right? They’re the size of a cessna.

They’re half the size of US drones and apparently do a lot better vs. Russian air defenses than our drones would.

Still pretty brave to be letting a bunch of people you’ve never met near you if you know that there are a bunch of assassins out to get you, IMO. Dude’s got balls of steel.

Yeah, this is nothing new, as the DHMO surveys demonstrated a long time ago.

Are you a bird lawyer?

“The countries that are imposing sanctions on us are just doing it to cover up for high energy prices and in order to deceive their own population”.

Wowsers. Reaching there, Vlad. The sanctions are not because you’re running around committing war crimes, no, it’s to cover up for high energy prices. I suppose we should defer to you about deceiving your own population though, you’re definitely the expert there.

No idea how nobody on that zoom call bursts out laughing. Oh yeah, I suppose they don’t want to get shot.

This is very personal-centric but I just found out my son got accepted to an externship in Finland next year. I don’t think I realized just how close St Petersburg was to Helsinki. How nervous would you be having a family member traveling to a non-Nato Eastern bloc country right now?

Right now? Pretty nervous. But you probably need to make that assessment closer to the time.

Finland is fine, Russian military has shown to not be capable of invading anyone else for a while
