It’s just the lead story on RT.com about Russian casualties, maybe it’s blocked at your work at something?
Says 498 Russians have died. Says Ukrainians claim ~2870 but that is not true.
Russians definitely know the truth is somewhere in the middle just like we do. RT just subtly tries to shift the perception to the lower end of the spectrum.
Point is Russians definitely have a good feel for what is going on, imo.
Hey, @VoteForSocialists, thanks for all your insights in this thread. Unimportant, but I was in Moscow in the spring of 1991 with my high school band and it was lovely and the people were great. One of the highlights of my life.
Our guide was really hot. Tall woman named Olga who wore tight, slinky dresses. She setup a currency exchange in a room at our hotel. Pretty cool as a 15-year-old going into her hotel room to see tons of cash on a bed (and Olga).
Saw a counterinsurgency guy on CNN yesterday who said you need 5x the attacking force for urban counterinsurgency. Referenced 100k Iraqi troops going after 10k poorly trained isis fighters in Mosul, which took like 6 months. He seemed to think Ukraine had a significant advantage in Kiev.
But, of course, that doesn’t take into account just carpet bombing Kiev to rubble. I guess that is something Putin could do, but it would make Russia’s current international relations situation seem downright rosy.
