If billhaywood got banned I disagree with that action. I didn’t realize I was so far behind when I responded to him. Caught up now and don’t see anything that justifies a ban. We should probably draw lots to represent the pacifist view now.
He’s unbanned now and we got a good ol fashioned mid war on our hands. Yeeeee hahhhh!
Ok, good on the first thing. But I’m a pacifist when it comes to mod wars.
errr what? The west has done just about everything short of escalation to a direct shooting war with Russia
thought this was super interesting regarding AI pictures, troll farms, and more.

This seems like a very good reason for NATO not to get involved (other than the end of humanity of course). Right now Putin is in a bind because his troops do not want to kill Ukrainians and especially civilians. They may not have such qualms about killing Poles or Estonians.
I also suspect NATO may be providing clandestine direct military support, especially with drones. Putin also may know this. But it may be in both sides best interest not to make it public - NATO for obvious reasons, Putin to keep from boxing himself into a corner and losing face.
US politicians have seemed very careful in their rhetoric about not wanting to start WWIII. They’re not even threatening anything like “Well if Putin commits atrocities, then we may rethink our position…” Which makes me wonder if that’s cover for secret active support. Also releasing a ton of drone footage to show that they’re definitely being piloted by Ukrainians - same purpose.
us isn’t flying drones in ukraine. vsu has somewhat limited drone selection. what support do you think they are giving?
How do you know US pilots aren’t flying some of those Turkish drones? That’s the whole point I keep making. With drones it’s a whole new world.
The US could also have drones that they rig to blow themselves up into tiny pieces of they’re about to get captured. Nobody would believe Putin anyway.
We could be doing all kinds of scurrilous Navy SEAL shit in UKR uniforms with orders that they can’t be captured under any circumstances.
Every day that goes by is another day to put plans like this in action.
Not just US but NATO too obviously. Seems like anything they could be doing with a low risk of discovery and plausible deniability - they should be at least thinking about.
I don’t think the USA is going to risk nuclear war for the minimal gains of having their guys fly the drones.
Well if you suddenly get a bunch of Turkish drones and don’t have enough pilots trained on them.
Putin: we heard they’re using American pilots on the drones - launch the nukes.
I believe there’s plenty of history of dogfights between US and Soviet planes during the cold war - that neither side had an interest in publicizing. It seems like a big part of the game is just not to publicly show up your enemy. Don’t box them into a corner.
Also I keep saying US - but in reality I think the European countries who have the most at stake should be making those calls. And they may be. Or not. Just speculating.
have you been reading a lot of john grisham?
why would american pilots be flying turkish drones? they don’t trust ukrainians to fly them well? why would turkey let that happen? this is not like the predator you can fly from langley.
no there are no navy seals in ukrainian uniforms. are you insane? that would trigger so many red lines.
this strategy… it doesn’t seem to be working
