The whole “17 miles of tanks” seemed weird to me just given all the talk of Ukraine having javelins and being supplied with more.
Javelins are anti-air but even with anti-tank weapons the Ukrainian forces still have to get close enough.
So about Berdyansk. RU did go in, and due to the city being a very isolated port, took over the city hall building. local government evacuated to safety, no mention of hostages or anything. The people in Berdyansk went with a pretty gigantic protest around city hall, yelling and harrassing the aggressors. eventually the group of platoons that were occupying city hall, loaded up on their trucks and left.

I can tell at sight a Mauser rifle from a Javelin, but such affairs as sorties and surprises I’m more wary at.
