Nonsense. Understanding the reasoning behind Russian aggression is not the same as justifying it, which you’d know if you’d read more than two posts.

Nato’s expansion is something Kremlin planners have to think about. It’s a fact on the ground to be entered into the equation, not a reflexive “blame America.”

That’s the rational point of view.
But both powers believe in building flexible responses.

Rerequoted for truth. He knows more than me and explains it much better.

What % of blame do you put on NATO aggression for what we see in Ukraine right now?

20%

World chess governing body FIDE have banned Russia and Belarus from hosting events. Russian and Belarussian players may still compete, but not under their national flags. This is mildly shocking because Russia is the spiritual home of chess. It’d be like banning the US from holding basketball competitions.

Meanwhile, former world championship contender GM Sergey Karjakin is doing anti-Ukraine rants on Twitter. Karjakin is well-known as a Russian partisan the same way Kasparov is known for being anti-Putin.

He’s from Crimea originally right?

Yeah, he was born in Soviet Ukraine and competed under the Ukrainian flag as a kid, but he’s ethnic Russian and transferred to competing for Russia in 2009.

If they really want to sting Russia here it would require banning Russians from playing in major tournaments. A good number of the world’s best players are Russian and it’s a major source of pride for them.

That twitter account was labelled a “Russian government account” by twitter.

I will watch the YouTube later when I have time.

That seems half-assed, honestly. They ought to be banned until Russia stops firing rockets at apartment buildings.

That’s really funny. John Mearsheimer is at the University of Chicago, one of the top diplomatic academics in the country. The clip is only 2:20.

I saw that clip.
I am talking about the 1h20 video also linked in the twitter account.

Lol crypto. Crypto bros are straight up morons, the end.
