Any soldier that laid down arms for money would have a death warrant on their heads in Russia. Or in most other countries for that matter. It’s called treason.
On another note, my dad called me today. He lives in the US and was a (reluctant, admittedly) Trump voter, so our relationship for the last 6 years has been, to put it mildly, strained. He told me they went to a protest yesterday. I said “glad to hear that”. He said “you didn’t ask which protest”. I said “well, I can’t imagine there are too many pro-Russian protests in Boston right now”.
Anyway, that made me happy. For anyone who doesn’t know, my family are Russian.
Wow. Has your Dad been pro-Putin?
Not that I’m aware of, but we never discussed it. Every Russian I’ve ever talked to of his generation prior to last week has always been “well, he’s not a nice guy, but he’s done some good things”. Like, you know, “well, he might murder journalists and political opponents, but he did help that old lady across the road once”. So I don’t know about “pro”, but I’d hazard a guess that he wasn’t “anti” enough for my liking. That is speculation though. We don’t talk that often.
Putin is changing strategy for Kiev according to Marco Rubio Twitter.
Circle the city slowly from all sides, and starve it out like a medieval siege.

Fuel train comes in at the end. Ukraine patriotic music sounds like lite Christian rock.
this makes them incredibly vulnerable
Worked for the Nazis in Leningrad. Oh, wait.
I doubt that’s the plan. Vlad is not dumb enough to not learn from the history we all got breast fed in the Soviet Union. Unfortunately.
That was always the only plan that made sense. A straight on charge would be catastrophic with all the anti-tank weapons they have. Could be all that stuff leaked about him needing to take Kyiv by Monday was disinfo.
But how well does a siege work when you don’t have air superiority? Seems like not well?

Maybe this is another non-accidental leak.
I thought Ukraine controlled the air? Surely this strategy can be defeated by wiping the Russian troops out while they wait?
Also seems like a bad strategy given how bad the sanctions are? The Russian economy will collapse in the meantime.
I am not sure Putin wants to turn Kiev into a post WW2 German city = pile of bricks. The only way to take Kiev by force is to level it which he hasn’t done yet.
His forces are slowly building a perimeter around Kiev.
Can someone explain how it works? why doesnt Ukraine just destroy everything from the sky game of thrones mother of dragon style?
Well we know the Russians have had columns pushing toward Kyiv for days. So it’s not like UA completely controls the skies.
Secretly I am cheering this option since it pains me to see a city get artilleried to death… but then people are going to starve to death
where do you live now?
Is Marco just spewing classified info on twitter for kicks?
because Russia has anti aircraft weapons with the column or because they have planes protecting the column?
Seems like both countries are flying planes and neither have total control.
Maybe NATO airlift with unarmed planes and dare the Russians to shoot them down? Parachute drops from high altitude if that’s possible?
