Ukraine, Russia, and the West

Not a chance unless it’s in a neutral country/ non Russian ally country

Apparently Russia seizing people in negotiations is a thing, of which Ukraine is aware.

Ukraine should send in a suicide bomber to negotiate.

wtf is the point of that right now?

I would like to place a wager that the talks go like this:

Russian delegation: Our terms are unconditional surrender, puppet government, annex the disputed regions, and in return we don’t sack Kyiv.

Ukrainian delegation: Go fuck yourselves.

End of talks.

They only have so many buttons to click and they will clock them.

Putin’s plan:

  1. Putin will push the US and Europe to the brink of war.

  2. Trump flies to Moscow and talks Putin down.

  3. War is averted. “Wow, Trump is so much better than that socialist Biden.”

  4. Trump is nominated for Nobel Peace Prize.

  5. Based on Trump’s “leadership”, Republicans win midterms.

  6. Trump becomes president in 2025, legally or through fraud.

  7. Trump finishes off the US as a democracy.

  8. Trump pulls out of NATO.

  9. Trump does his best to destroy the EU.

  10. Trump gives Putin Ukraine, and whatever else Putin desires.

  11. Trump ends all climate change policies and supports fossil fuels.

  12. Putin smiles. Everything he wants, without firing a shot.

Oh, and for his troubles, Trump gets his hotel permit in Moscow.

From the comments section. Terrifying.

Maybe Russia buys ALL the gold, so none of us can have semiconductors, 200iq by Putin once again. Next in line: copper.

Air raid sirens.

I wonder if Putin could wave a magic wand, what the minimum would be that he would settle for here. Recognition of Crimea as Russian and a guarantee of Ukrainian neutrality between Russia and NATO seem like obvious inclusions. The complicating factor is whether Putin can rely on Ukraine to deliver any of what he wants. Like it’s a democracy so the government can agree to whatever and they might just have a new government next year with a more combative attitude. Putin probably has the attitude that he can’t rely on any promises Ukraine makes in the long term, so right now I doubt he is settling for anything less than installation of a puppet regime.

The internal Russian assessment of how the war is going is another big unknown. I’m following it fairly closely and I can’t really tell how it’s going for them. “Not great but not disastrously” is my best guess.

More air raid sirens than last time. I think the Ukraine delegation might have just told the Russian delegation to go fuck themselves.

I know. I’m playing that game. I’m just being flippant.

So has anyone seen if the USA is providing intelligence to Ukraine? Because that would make a lot of sense for why they’re doing so much better beyond WIM and etc.

they absolutely are providing intelligence.

Seems pretty likely that we are and that we’re doing everything possible to keep that out of the news.

OTOH, Ukraine definitely has more WIM.

Sounds like the Kremlin might have pulled a Trump made up some “I hereby declare…” nonsense.
