Ukraine, Russia, and the West

Not a great sign if the US is renewing efforts to talk Zelensky into fleeing.

I think striking at their nuclear capabilities might trigger a nuclear response.

Helps make sense of wtf is going on. If those #s are remotely accurate, seems Ukraine has the same urban/rural political divide as we have in the US. Just saw the same with the Taliban and Afghanistan.

Putin seeking to murder those who passionately hate him the most in Kiev and hope the rest of the country falls in line out of apathy.

fuck, nato is sitting on the nuts after the river was dealt and unwilling to jam because it’s fucking putin? we just cannot be in asymmetrical warfare like that forever

Someone said Russia has 6000 nukes? Does Nato have capabilities to knock off all 1500+ nuclear silos through Russian air defense simultaneously to prevent one from going off?

100% I just lined up the two streams with sound. Two giant reports in Kyiv. Good to know they’re not fake I guess - which has been a problem in recent conflicts.

It’s not the nuts on the river unless they’re 100% confident they can wipe out his nuclear capabilities without him firing any, which is probably not the case. And I think the conventional old school wisdom is if a nuclear power tries to take out your nukes, you have to fire because it’s your only chance to do so and they will have the option going forward.

it’s over vladimir. she’s never going to love you back

They also have mobile nukes plus subs and bombers. Seems impossible.

My understanding is that it is unlikely that we even know all of the silo locations.

Man I don’t know how we get out of this while letting Putin save face.

then don’t let him save anything

The longer Ukraine holds out, the more they appear to be not a lost cause if another country chooses to enter on their side or to give support to a post-invasion insurgency.

Do we have any idea how many people are between Putin and actually launching the nukes? Does he literally have a button that’s hard-wired to the nukes? Because otherwise I can see someone just refusing to do be the first to launch, on the grounds that he’s a madman. Obviously you never want that to be your last line of defense.

But unlike USA. Won’t he just murder people until someone will do it?

I’m starting to think it’s a lot more likely that Putin blew up those apartment buildings to gain power.

I don’t know if his thug buddies can penetrate into military bunkers like that.

I suppose they could let him annex the eastern portions of DPR and LPR, but I’m not sure that’s acceptable to Ukraine or the West.

I think it would be reasonable in theory to split the Donetsk and Luhansk Oblasts in half and let all four sections vote for which country to be part of, or for independence, but that also sounds like one of those ideas that is stillborn in the real world.
