you pony… has been… well, you know

Akin to your pony on Turkey - US ain’t enforcing a no fly zone there - not until some twin towers get down or a fifth fleet gets bombed anyway - stock market rising - nothing to see here.

lol. i posted it as it was happening, yesterday. seems like you are a day late. EU needs a way to create no-fly zone, without giving putin justification for nukes. he needs to be cornered asap.

everyone talks about turkey being warm on putin. turkey has been selling UAVs to ukraine this entire buildup, against russia’s wishes. Erdogan is also a fascist asshole, but in this case he’s trying to score points off of putin.

I feel Erdogan is as crooked as Putin but will watch your commentary with eagerness.

Could people please stop sniping at each other - it’s getting really old.

This is a pretty supreme game theory situation.

Putin has established many red lines(defending or aiding Ukraine, cutting off financial ties), and backed them up with extreme rhetoric. This seems like an optimal way to manipulate the semi-forthright actors of the west, who value parsing rhetoric and establishing red lines. Then he engages the diplomatic process with transparent bad faith, making it clear the red lines have little meaning besides mapping out what he wants to do without consequence.

It seems like the only way to unwind his position is to violate one of his supposed red lines.

And it seems like the only response to that would be for him to escalate.

I don’t see Putin slinking away with his tail between his legs under any circumstances whatsoever. They need to beat him in a way that allows him to claim victory.

I was like where are those church bells coming from? I’ve never heard those. Then I realized it was coming from the live feed that I still have open in another tab. All quiet so far. But the Kyiv camera went down due to power outage.

Sure he’s a fascist asshole, but part of being a fascist in Turkey is being anti-Russian. They have fought various wars for 500 years, and for a long time a prime goal of Russia was to take Istanbul, so Turkey couldn’t do thing like block the straights.

Russia is an imperialist power and always has been. Turkey is well aware of this.

Here’s Marx discussing Russian ambition for Turkey.

Lord of War is on Peacock.

Also Erdogan is desperate for cash, so his bromance with Putin must have been cut short with the awareness that staying with the US and EU offers better perspectives in the medium and long-term

I don’t see how a NATO / Turkey enforced no fly zone over the ‘turkish med’ won’t stop Russia flying around the no fly zone - if Russia even need to fly around it to reach Ukraine

I’d like to know what the story is behind this little isolated piece of Russia.
