But his whole thing, which again he inundated the military with, is that he loves Ukraine and thinks they’ve just lost their way. Many of them speak the same language and have friends and relatives in Russia.
It’s just hard to see him committing massive atrocities that would poison the well so much it would pretty much guarantee the best case scenario for keeping Ukraine is generations of military rule. But who knows.
Unless he’s lying about his motivations and is really just crazy,

I understand. But the connotations of the terminology is significant and will lead to misunderstanding in this case. In this very thread we’ve had someone frame this as a problem with Communist Russia. And Republicans are going to push the same misinformation.

The US has a tactical ballistic missile, but I don’t think we have anything like Kalibr (which is a cruise missile that goes supersonic for attack). US doctrine is based around air superiority, and it’s much cheaper and more effective to fly to the enemy and drop a bomb on their head than it is to build a single use aircraft to fly the bomb to them.
Counterpoint: Russian physics and math education is vastly superior to American education.
No more making Ukraine come get the weapons in Poland, I guess. NATO countries are crossing Putin’s red line.

Are Russia’s confirmed? It seems so far Putin has relied on the past USSR reputation to intimidate. And the current Russian military doesn’t seem to be living up to the reputation so far.
