Czech Republic says it can handle 250K Ukrainian refugees. Right now about 130K have been given visas (though that does include Ukrainians currently in the CR renewing their current visas). Given that over 10K were handed out last Friday, that limit is fast approaching.
Wonder what’ll happen. 250K might not sound like a lot but it is for a country of 10 million people. As a matter of that, that 250K will more than double the Ukrainian population in the country which already was the largest foreign born demographic in the CR.
After a look, the neon is used in excimer lasers that provide a light source for lithography systems. This is not the first time this has happened to supply in Ukraine, so semiconductor companies aren’t completely unprepared and have stockpiles they can rely on for a while, some number of weeks anyway. They’ve also developed their processes to capture and recycle used gas, though ofc they don’t get back all of it.
The neon is a “buffer” in the laser system, where the reacting gasses (Kr and F or Ar and F) are present in smaller amounts. Helium is used instead of neon in some systems. I assume there are good reasons you can’t just swap in helium for neon. Too bad, although we also have a helium supply crunch, helium is cheaper and the US is the world’s biggest supplier.
I don’t think Putin realizes we REALLY spend 700 billon dollars on our military. Even with inflated prices not 700 billion that is really 35.00 billion.
Yeah the US must be really confusing alone. Completely divided country at almost polar opposites. But he failed to take into account, politically, America 100% supports war and the war machine.
That wasn’t his exact take, and given the current situation with Russia, and the likelihood that global destabilization played a role in that happening now, it wasn’t as bad of a take as most of us thought.
Military supply convoys coming into Ukraine are legitimate targets and nobody should be surprised that Russia wants to hit them. Will be an issue if they hit them in NATO airspace but I expect most is coming into Lviv over ground and that Ukraine controls the airspace between Lviv and the border using those new weapons.
