I read the first and 4th letters. I was skeptical about the first letter, but the fourth has made me doubtful. Seems like a pro Ukraine troll. He both knows way too much about broad plans and strategies across various areas and also too little.

Putin is the foremost Realist on the planet and his argument, which was part of his pre-invasion speech, is that with no counterbalance to the US, the US just gets to do whatever so we get Afghanistan and we get Iraq, therefore Russia must take back its proper place in the world. That is the equilibrium he wants to re-establish. Unlike academic Realists, he’s a practical guy.
