Sure that makes sense. The Russians never planned to use secure communications at all. I mean why plan for that when they all have personal cell phones?

Thereās an element of asymmetry to this that I think is interesting. The more advanced countries are also more reliant on networks to function, so less developed nations can punch above their weight class. i.e., North Korea can probably mess with the USās infrastructure through cyber attacks in a way that the US canāt mirror.

Sure, but you miss my point about asymmetry. How badly can you damage a country like NK with cyber attacks vs how much damage could a determined third world country inflict on the US.

Yeah, there is definitely the ānothing left to loseā threat to this that certainly favors anyone who doesnāt bother factoring in other liabilities. I would hope that the Trillion spent on this isnāt to just build 100,000 Tsar bombs against our enemies 10. Itās such a complex subject where we couldnāt never pretend to know anything of how things work other than how our history has played out so far with attacks.
