NATO’s primary mission was to deter an increasingly belligerent Soviet Union, which had liberated the countries of Eastern Europe only to occupy and enslave them as communist satellite states. By the mid-1950s NATO ground forces were vastly outnumbered in the heart of Europe. America, France and Britain begrudgingly concluded the only way they could restore some measure of military balance was to rearm their former German enemy, albeit under firm NATO operational control. Thus the Paris Accords of May 5, 1955, authorized the establishment of the Bundeswehr , the armed forces of the Federal Republic of Germany.

There’s more on this supposedly nazification of NATO, but in reality what happened is that Germany got something resembling an army back in the 1950s.
You’ll note this is very similar to Putin’s claims about Nazis in Ukraine. It’s a pretty interesting article tbh.

No, you didn’t. You contradicted the claim of stopping Soviet imperialism and instead said that “the founding principles of NATO was to make Europe full of right wing capitalists.”
It doesn’t take much of a contortion to interpret his view as making Europe safe for right-wing capitalists being an underlying principle behind the purpose of stopping Soviet imperialism.

I see a difference between starting a war with Russia and creating circumstances that make Russia want to start a war with NATO or the US. Who fires the first shot matters.
