Broe is great, but he makes heavy pro-Ukrainian spins on everything, and seeks out posts (like this one) which reinforce heavily pro-Ukrainian spins. I understand why he does this, but don’t really agree with it. (I donate regularly to his initiatives, really like the guy, and watch his content regularly, I just don’t agree with his approach on bad news.)
Perpetua is a character. He spends probably 18 hours a day watching war footage and archiving it. He has an absurd amount of knowledge regarding battle tactics. This causes him to miss the forest for the trees in some of his takes, which are usually tweeted at the end of an 18 hour binge session of war footage and a massive amount of coffee.
There not being a well defined front line is completely irrelevant to the fact that Russia has breached positions. Russia hasn’t been able to capitalize on it yet, and is still not sending any mechanized attacks to capitalize on it, but it’s still a major problem whether you want to call it a minor breakthrough, penetration, or breach.
Ukraine does not have the personel to go “into dugouts and other positions to destroy the rifle teams where they are hiding.” It is why Russia’s strategy is effective: they can send these small units forward, not caring that the success rate is so low, because when they do work Ukraine’s manpower situation is in such a bad position that they can’t respond.
Right now several groups, including Azov, have been moved here to counter attack (which is already a bad sign), but I think little else is known at the moment. Hopefully they are able to destroy these Russian positions, but it’s not guaranteed and it’s a bad position to be in.
The Defense Forces of Ukraine have pushed back the enemy near Rubizhne , Zolote Kolodyaz , Vesele , Vilne , Shakhove , Nikanorivka , and Sukhetske.
Immediately after the public discussion, full attention was directed to clarifying the situation in this sector, which had recently been taken over by the 1st Corps. At the same time, additional resources from the Air Assault Forces (79th and 82nd Brigades) were deployed to stabilize the situation, along with other units (1st and 425th Separate Rifle Battalions, 25th Separate Rifle Battalion, 2nd Battalion of the 92nd Separate Mechanized Brigade, 32nd Mechanized Brigade, 93rd Mechanized Brigade, 38th Marine Brigade, and 14th Special Operations Brigade). Our fighters began working to clear and block the occupiers in the areas they had seized.
The enemy found a weak spot in the defense, which they immediately exploited, bringing in infantry. Fortunately, the enemy continued their chaotic push deeper into the territory, even bypassing certain forward positions and strongpoints of the newly formed Integrated Defense System, and failed to properly entrench themselves or bring in their main forces, including drone crews. At that time, enemy movements were carried out without active support from aerial reconnaissance, artillery, or other assets. During this entire period, Defense Forces fighters tried to counter the enemy, but due to the destabilization of the situation and lack of full understanding of the overall picture, this was difficult to do.
We would like to see more such reactions to situations, and as few reasons for such situations as possible. We very much hope that those who distorted the situation and treated it negligently will be held accountable, and that an after-action review will take its rightful place, yielding positive results in the future.
