Your offense here is you said it was ‘uniquely russian’, which it is (note the complete lack of sk addressing my citation request for a similar map), but sk won’t let you get away with morally judging russian society without accounting for everything wrong ever done by the west.
I’m pretty sure that’s how Teddy Roosevelt won the Nobel Peace Prize.
it’s a weird almost-moot comparison because western nations stopped fighting 20th century wars of draftees and conscripts, and russia not only forced ukraine to mobilize, but was itself forced to mobilize hundreds of thousands via a draft. it reverted back to from a “professional” army into something with trench tactics. i mean we all know putin is a brilliant tactician on the judo mat and the ice rink, but have you considered that he is a master strategist as well?
What in the hell are you talking about?
-58,220 casualties in Vietnam
-49,830 white (86%)
-7,243 black (12.4%)
Just makin stuff up
96% of officer casualties in Vietnam were white, that skews things. I think something like 15% of enlisted casualties were black. I’d be curious what the black fraction of conscript casualties was.
A pretty unknown related story is how there were 320000 South Koreans (South Korea at this time was a very unfree state dependent on the US) fighting in Vietnam.
This deserves a dogpile. Probably one of the bottom-five arguments SK has put forth in this thread.
Why don’t presidents fight the war
Why do they always send the poor
-System of a Down
That the poor and marginalized always disproportionally bear the brunt of war while the favored classes don’t?
Controversial stuff.
I’m sure some would love it if the head of state had to go back to the medieval ways of personally attending the battles.
Of course. You don’t?
The apparent numerical evidence your assumed equivalence hinges on is that Black people were 10% of the army but 12% of casualties in Vietnam. As if that’s the same as Moscow residents (5% of the population of Russia) dying at like a 10% rate compared with the rest of Russia.
We can do Iraq/Afghanistan if you wanna keep digging your hole deeper. Spoiler alert, the numbers are no more in your favor.
Not surprising at all that you knee jerk assert an equivalence before taking even a moment to review any data.
No
I was talking about people who were forced to fight in Vietnam. Officers were all volunteer afaik and casualties were 96% white. Black enlisted were like 15% of enlisted casualties. Hard to find numbers on conscript deaths.
Oh, good point
Would you say this is enough to disqualify a team from your support in a gameday thread
