it’s possible but the US narrative makes no sense at all. Russia sabotaged its own pipeline, which coincidentally – according to US officials – is very good for the US. I mean I guess you and ikes believe it but it’s incredibly nonsensical and far fetched.

That’s fine, we can agree to disagree. I think an article like this moves the needle a bit. Not to 100%, because we may never know for sure.

No sense at all! It just panicked energy markets and increased the cost of not doing business with Russia temporarily!

It’s so weird how your ability to parse out some basic conspiracy thought falls apart the moment it’s not convenient. Just like the lab leak bullshit

Oh I’m sure it makes sense to you ikes.

Makes as much sense as why america would do it. Only you’re certain of your position because… of this article. Which doesn’t say much other than you’re super easily convinced

Tbf I think SK was pretty certain of his position well before this article came out. The American motivation seems pretty obvious to me, and was even spoken out loud by Biden and Nuland (which was mentioned in the article but has already been brought up here)

The idea that cheap natural gas would openly bribe the German government and make them powerless to act sounds a lot like internal marketing in an intelligence agency.

Of course I never thought Russia did it, why would Russia destroy infrastructure it profits from and completely controls. If Russia wanted no gas to flow through the pipeline they could do that without blowing it up. And they’d have the leverage to reverse that and let Germany use Russian gas if they do this or that. The US blew it up to destroy that leverage.

Because Germany wasn’t paying for their gas and it would increase the price of gas, something Russia was openly using to pressure Germany to stop their funding of Ukraine.

Also, resting your argument on what’s essentially “Russia wouldn’t do something rash and dumb” is hilariously stupid given their actions the past year. No way Putin could make a bad strategic decision, look at what is going on in Ukraine!

To expand on this, not only would that have to be the wisdom, it’d have to be enough of a fear in the American security apparatus that they’d risk thermonuclear war over it if caught.

If you’re looking for that fear and are sure of it, Germany is a lot closer with a lot more skin in the game.

Now I get it. Your theory is that Putin’s taking his strategy from Goldfinger, the evil bastard.

“But why don’t you just close the valve? Why do you need to have sharks with laser beams attached to their heads to blow up your own pipeline?”

Because it was an attempt to shock the markets, and gas prices rose 12%. Again, when your argument relies on the idea “there’s no way Russia would be dumb in my pov” you essentially don’t have one. Also the complete lack of actual evidence doesn’t help either, despite your attempt at spiking the football today

lol closing the valves and stopping all gas through nordstream would shock the market as well.

Valves can be reopened. Blown up pipes cannot. That is not the same level.

Yeah, exactly. Valves can be reopened. Why would the Russians want something irreversible to happen to their pipeline? They wouldn’t. America did. Who benefits? Who cares, says ikes.

Unless they thought that they weren’t likely to sell much gas to Germany et al regardless and wanted to go for maximum impact.

We’re clearly going in circles here. If you ever get any sort of actual credible evidence for your position beyond “well it makes sense to me” and single anonymous sourced reports on substack from a guy with big issues with sticking to facts in his past, lmk

I’ll keep you posted ikes

What is the actual credible evidence pointing to Russia?
