You’ll be shocked to find out that Michael Tracy’s take on this is that Ukraine should give in to Russia’s demands and cede territory.
I don’t why it tickles slash infuriates me that the details are always very squishy and opaque and combined with performative outrage. Like sure we should “reduce” war. Sounds good, how do we do that? Oh we “negotiate”. Ok sounds good, should never not give negotiating a shot. What should they negotiate over? Oh things? Not going to be too specific are you? Oh how dare I suggest? Oh I’m the one who loves war?

By that logic, shouldn’t Ukraine target Russian civilians somehow so that it becomes a war that Russia doesn’t want to prolong?

I think the standard refrain is that Russia DGAF so there’s no point trying to coerce them into doing anything.
My point was more that Michael Tracey is a dumbass.

Lots of fires all over Russia. At least it seems to be a lot. I am not sure what to make of it. Russia is a huge country and fires do happen all the time. There was a fire yesterday in a Moroccan propane gas storage plant and I am pretty sure that wasn’t caused by Ukrainian commandos.
I would really like to see a comparison to a baseline.
Let’s let them torture and kill our civilians instead of fighting back where they will kill our soldiers instead, but at least the murderers won’t also be killed if we surrender, so less death overall.
