Thanks.

LOL

lol, I just read about Greater Hungary and, if I’m reading the maps correctly, it includes Bratislava, Novi Sad, a panhandle all the way to the Adriatic that includes Zagreb, and like half of Romania.

The Korean War also took three years and ended with a border very similar to the pre-war situation.

there’s no “peace” per se on the korean peninsula. nothing like a peace agreement was signed. the conflict is in the state of armistice, with both sides having enough active military mobilized to make further hostilities impractical and unconscionable.

it is actually plausible that putin could have de facto annexed and defended crimea and pre-feb 24 donbass with a similar military buildup and a frozen conflict. but that’s not what he did. he completely wasted his own army to the point that it’s no longer clear that russia can hold donetsk, luhansk, or even crimea

the korean conflict is ongoing. both sides continue to claim to be the legitimate government of the whole peninsula, and clashes have occurred since the armistice was signed. the most deadly one being the DMZ conflict in the 60s in which a thousand people died. both sides participated in the hot Vietnam war essentially fighting each other as well as their respective allies. both sides sent units to infiltrate the enemy into the 70s, including attempts to assasinate each other’s leaders. most of those agents perished, number is into the thousands.

it’s not war that kills millions, but it’s not peace by a long shot

so far i’ve read two theories. one, fsb orchestrated it hoping to force lukashenko into the war. second, lukashenko’s kgb did it to preempt either a coup which would get belarus into the war, or a coup seeking to keep belarus out of the war.

I had a dream I was at some sort of conference where Lavrov tried to bore me to death. I wouldn’t discount the possibility of suicide.
