Trump's America

Supposedly it was a hostile work environment

That’s sucks.

One thing I’m curious about is what exactly the problem was. I read that entire link and it was all just references to the ā€œhostile work environmentā€. Any specific example of what he did?

There are a lot of people working on a TV show, were the accusations pointed at him or at the show?

Both? I think. The link Bob posted is light on details.

yeah, I’m reading the article and while light on examples it’s pretty clear who they are talking about. Too bad.

Hasan Minhaj postures himself as a progressive in public life. His show Patriot Act was cancelled by Netflix recently for unknown reasons. Minhaj has also claimed that he was not allowed at the Howdy Modi event last year in September because of his ā€˜critical’ views on PM Modi. But later, it was revealed that he had not registered himself for the event as a media person and hence he could not enter the venue with a camera. Minhaj was offered a seat in the audience but he refused.

Certainly isn’t a good look

Minhaj has basically disappeared from social media. He used to tweet numerous times a day. Now it’s like once a week if that.

Maybe we should start by showing leniency to minority communities and THEN start working on the already light sentences for white people

Maybe he has realized how little benefit social media has for already established stars

As for Patriot Act, I haven’t seen allegations specifically targeting Hasan.

It’s very very important to note (and I’m absolutely certain Bryce will agree with me here as will PocketChads) that the experience people have with police is heavily influenced by a variety of factors of which race is obviously a huge one. One of the other huge ones is class. The system is designed to pick on the people with the absolute least resources to resist it. I spent two days in jail because I wanted to go to taco bell and got grabbed on a six year old warrant from the other side of the state for a 250 dollar ticket once because there were cops parked at the entrance of my run down apartment complex just running the tags of every car coming and going. It took a day for the system to even figure out what my warrant was for. I almost lost the first really good adult job I’d ever had.

That being said I’ve also been a stupid teenager doing stupid teenager things, encountered the police, and been given a pass probably because I’m a white dude. This isn’t a simple picture and it needs to be repeated ad nauseum that even if you removed race from the police experience algorithm there would still be the same number of cops out on the street incentivized to make something stick to someone and they would simply pivot to the next most vulnerable group of people. It also bears mentioning that if you look at the current reality and pretend African Americans don’t exist and simply look at the state of play with criminal justice for white people… it’s still a completely scandalous disaster of epic proportions.

Destroying your home’s value to own the libs?

I’d like to reform the prison and sentencing system but let’s start with people not like rittenhouse

Like step 1 is: Do you understand that what you did was wrong? And rittenhouse is never going to get there.

Seriously the problem is the total size of the balloon animal. Squeezing parts of it to make it more fair to different groups while preserving the overall structure isn’t going to impact the total harm it does. It has cells to fill, and everyone working the system is incentivized to solve the problem of filling them.

Could be an investment. Just find someone dumber to sell it to.
