So fucking much of what passes for Christianity is fucking Calvinball in 2020 America. I genuinely think that the internet is going to be a mass extinction event for the old religions. People will still want to be religious so there will be new religions of course… but they’ll look pretty different.
Meh, premonition is small fry. We got a couple on 2+2 who variously believe in talking snakes and animal boats and flat earths.

Just like 2016, 3 houses suddenly have Trump signs in my neighborhood right before the election.

my parents live in a small neighborhood that borders the northside of Chicago and they’ve had a few people put up trump signs. One house who has a flagpole on the corner had an american flag and POW/MIA flag on the pole, when the protests started he replaced the american flag with another american flag that has a blue line as one of the stripes, then about a month and a half ago he said fuck the troops like his boy trump and replaced the POW flag with a MAGA 2020 flag.
Funny thing is over the last 2 weeks someone has been targeting the houses, I’m guessing it’s some teenagers because one house with trump signs had “vote blue” spray painted on their garage door, the MAGA flag was snatched off the flag pole and someone tried to get the thin blue line flag yesterday but couldnt get it off the pole and bent the entire pole down to the ground lol. Also this one house with two racist ass black lawn jockey figures had them removed because of vandalism, I was so happy about this one and wanted to destroy those things myself but the house has a good 15 cameras around it and a sign that says “we dont call 911 we call 357” with a picture of a gun
When I was walking my parents dog about a week ago whike they were out of town I saw the house that was graffitied and laughed because of the “vote blue” graffiti. The lady saw me do that and got in her car to follow me around the neighborhood and take pictures of me and my buddies house who I walked into. We saw her taking pictures and went outside to confront her, I guess she thought we were some teenagers or some shit and she wanted to try and intimidate us with “i know what you did and I’m a lawyer, so be careful.” She then called the cops on us when we started telling her to fuck off and stop taking pictures of people, the cop came and kindly told the woman to go home. The cop also came to me and tried to give me some speech about not smiling at others misfortune because it is very antagonizing, sort of trying to say we deserved to be followed or some bullshit because I smiled at the graffiti while walking by. I then told the cop “having trump signs in a community full of immigrants is a lot more antagonizing than my smile” and she just didnt say anything and then left me with a word of advice “you can’t get in trouble for things you think, don’t show or say your feelings” or some shit like that lol I gave her a huge eyeroll and just said umm ok and left it at that

I’ve been reading (doomscrolling) predictit comment threads today because yeah. The one thing that really stands out is just how confident trumpers are. I mean I don’t really have any exposure to their “thoughts” other than this, but is it just like an ignorance is bliss thing? It kind of blows me away. I wish I was so gd sure/confident in anything like they are sure that Trump wins tomorrow.

I interact with a ton of Trumpers IRL and almost all of them truly believe Trump is going to win in a landslide. These people are almost all highly educated professional types.
Yep, intelligent people can hold faith based positions inspite of evidence. In the end maybe they do go to Trump heaven, but it doesn’t seem likely.
Weren’t they also totally overconfident in 2018 that they were not going to lose seats? Also took a walk around my neighborhood this morning, saw 2-3 new Biden signs, zero Trump signs have been up. FWIW I live in a pretty nice area with a lot of older white people but in a fairly liberal city and my neighborhood has at least a little diversity. I know there’s one old white dude who wears a Trump hat on occasion.
Some of them just live in a complete information bubble of Fox News and crazy shit on Facebook. Anything they don’t like is Fake News, and look how the Fake News got the polling wrong in 2016.
