He already skated past almost this exact messaging four years ago. It didn’t move the needle for the people who needed to be moved. $750 is an easy one-liner to share, but I can’t see it making a big impact re:
- Making Trump fans stay home, or
- Energizing the ambivalent/undecided.
You do both by making these people scared that Trump will hurt them, or at least fail in getting them what they want. They dgaf if he’s shorting the government. Both of these groups believe what they do in part because they either hate or mistrust the government.

True but it’s a lot of survivorship bias rolled into a somewhat sustainable advantage. Sort of like megalomaniacs that make the final table with enough chips to ICM bully everyone. Most of them busted in the first few levels, but the few who win a few flips use their massive stacks to force folds. If you flip hot and are born into hundreds of millions of dollars you have a great setup. On the other hand, I’d assume psychopaths born into poverty land in prison at a much higher rate.
I truly believe that being a full-blown (functioning) psycho is the optimal high-ceiling “strategy” for basically everything. It has a high failure rate and overall lower expectation yet the highest probability of getting to the top and winning it all in the same way that you won’t win a large-field stock picking competition by making a bunch of safe picks.

Eh, people, and swing voters almost by definition, are irrational. Half the R strategy is making people angry about the crumbs their neighbors get “unfairly” while their donors rob the country blind.
“I assumed it was bad, but $750???” is a perfectly cromulent attempt to push a button w/ these people.

100% he thinks Trump paying less than he does is a good thing though and fully expects to have the same amount of money and pay the same amount of taxes as Trump does sometime in the future.

Remember: This is only his tax records. These records are what he claimed to the IRS. What he admitted to. And we all know he lies ALWAYS.
So now we play spot the lies. Like $100M write offs for $3M properties. It’s going to take years to find them all.
The big question to me is assets, which aren’t disclosed. We think we know some of his assets, but do we really? What lies have been accepted as fact without vetting? EVERYTHING is open to question.

I really think the $750 dollars thing is not the right framing because that is too easily spun as being smart or savvy. Just pound the table that he’s a fraud, he’s losing more money than he hs, and he’s not wealthy at all.
