Even Breitbart has it if you hit page down three times.
Don’t know or care how rich or not rich Trump is but this isn’t going to actually effect the election. Trump’s going to say “I’m a business man, of course I’m going to pay as little tax as legally permitted. The tax code is the tax code.” Then Biden’s going to say well you’re either a poor or a cheat, then Trumps going to say something like well Joe, you were in Congress for fifty years. I followed the tax law, but you wrote the tax laws. If they were such a problem why didn’t you do something about it. And exactly no one will be budged from their previous beliefs.
Joe should just say that Trump is a tax cheat who is being audited because he stole $100 million from taxpayers.
“Whose administration wrote me that check, Joe? Every large refund is looked at strongly, and believe me they looked at my refund very strongly.”
This is where Biden pulls out a gun and shoot Trump in the face.
It really has been out there all along; it’s just that, like every single other thing with this fucking guy, the next thing drowns out the previous.
There’s an Ivanka interview floating around out on YouTube somewhere, you can find it I’m sure without too much searching. I heard a snippet of it on NPR one morning while driving to work during the campaign in 2016. Anyway, in it Ivanka recalls a time as a teenager when she’s walking in NYC with her father and he points out some homeless guy on the street and tells her something to the effect of “that guy is worth more than me.” It was after one of his several bankruptcies I believe. Anyway the point is that this isn’t new news. We just as humans do not have the mental capacity to digest the amount of bullshit this guy generates on a daily basis, so this stuff gets lost in the shuffle. And our media, which used to be good at keeping us laser-focused for weeks or months on things like private e-mail servers, has utterly failed us when it comes to him.
I think there are two defensible approaches.
The first is to try to trigger the shit out of Trump to make him have a legit meltdown on stage. This is certainly possible but a high variance approach when Joe doesn’t need variance. The second is to just laugh condescendingly and basically dismiss it as irrelevant (because it is). “I’m not surprised and I can’t imagine anyone else is either. The guy lies like the rest of us breathe, and its why he can’t deal with the pandemic and has no plan for health care blah blah blah.”
Biden could definitely shoot Trump in the face on Fifth Avenue and not lose any supporters.
Hell, he’d probably gain support. Watevs would surely jump on the trump train then.
I don’t even know that there will be a natural opportunity to bring it up. I don’t think Wallace will go there. Heck, Trump is the most likely to bring up the issue during some “fake news” rant.
But if there is, I agree with the latter. Any mention of it should be dismissive passive-aggressiveness from Biden. “Honestly, Chris, I don’t care that the President is broke, despite stealing millions from American taxpayers. What I care about is the machinist laid off in Pennsylvania who won’t be able to get health insurance if the ACA is struck down. What I care about is the grandmother in Michigan who’s afraid to see her grandchildren because a pandemic is still raging due to this man’s failures.” Etc…
I actually disagree with you on this one. Trump avoids a lot of criticism for his obvious bad behavior by doing it all out in open, brazenly and shamelessly. This is a case that can be framed as “look at what Trump was hiding, since he was hiding it we know it is bad!” His tax return is FINALLY something he is ashamed of, hang it on him. Donnie Dumb Dumb is a money losing loser with businesses that lose money! He tried to hide it because he’s ashamed of it!
Wow, you’re already wrong! That was quick.
Yup. Inexplicably up 500 at the start
The closer the election is to chaos and being close, the worse the stock market will do. The higher the likelihood of a Biden win, the better the stock market will do. A contested election with massive civil unrest is really bad for the stock market. A Biden landslide is not.
If Biden wins clearly on election night, I’d guess that there are actually stock market losses in the days to come.
Dems need to focus group this thing and figure out very quickly which ONE message resonates the most. While the story will probably at some point become more “noise”, it becomes that even quicker if there’s 4-5 different takeaways from the story. You’re already seeing it on social media:
- Donald the billionaire only paid a few hundred bucks in taxes! Teachers and steelworkers pay more!
- Donald says he’s a billionaire, but he’s actually stone broke.
- Now we know why the country is run so poorly - Donald said he would run it like a business, and all of his are a mess.
- Who does Donald owe $400 million to? What do they have on him? How is he compromised?
- Donald has clearly committed tax fraud.
It can’t be all of these. Need to pick one and hammer it over and over and over to break through.
