He believes there is a chance he can pull it off. To be clear I think it’s less than 1%.
But it’s not like the rest of our govt and institutions are full of well read, thoughtful, honorable people safeguarding us from the improbable.
That’s the coup attempt. The “protests” are just meaningless criminal activity after Trump’s coup attempt failed in the courts and congress. The only issue is whether Trump’s coup attempt was so pathetic that it shouldn’t be called as much.

This protest has less chance of taking over the government than osama bin laden had.
Let them burn down the capitol for all i care. That would only allow us to root out the supporters in right wing media, elected office, police, armed forces, etc.

I’m not arguing that they have a high probability of success. I am arguing that their probability of success is as relevant as ARMED TERRORISTS STORMED THE CAPITOL FORCING THE SENATE TO EVACUATE. I have no idea why you keep giving reasons why this is actually no big deal.
Same as all the other shit he’s pulled. Generate media coverage, controversy, stir shit up. Seems like this went way too far to serve any useful purpose for Trump but I’ve thought that about 17 times since Trump entered politics and been wrong each time so what do I know.

Calling for protesters to pressure people in power to overturn the election seems pretty straight forward imo.
He might not be doing this thinking that he is a favorite to retain power, but I think he believes that this is his last best hope and he’s gambling because he thinks he doesn’t have anything to lose.
