Trump obviously doesn’t give a shit about tearing the country apart. That’s what he’s doing by undermining the election results! That’s just the sort of face-saving rationalization he will use to square not accepting the election results with peacefully leaving. Maybe it won’t be that exact one but I’m sure he will have some self-serving explanation ready.

He’s just gonna bitch the election was stolen until he dies. Hell, he doesn’t even accept the 2016 results, and he WON. He’s never using “doing the right thing by stepping down.” He’s being told no for the first time in his life. He is incapable of handling it.

Like dude, we are in the middle of pandemic, millions are out of work, can’t pay bills, 300K+ are dead, and Trump wants the military to overturn the election. He’s not gonna just go “Welp, I tried! It didn’t work, so I’m stepping down so the country isn’t torn apart.”
I don’t ever do prop bets on the forums, but man, you should wager on this with somebody. He will never say anything like this.

A. There are clearly true believers that think it was stolen and are doing whatever they can to overturn the results. This category includes the deplorable masses and Trumps NPD.
B. There are the political cranks that are just looking to muddy the waters to get further voter restrictions for the GOP.
C. There is a subset of B whose real intent is Trump 2024
D. Grift
Trump himself is all four at once, though B is only in service to C, not the rest of the GOP. But to be clear, if a real path opens to remaining in power he will go down it, almost without limit if left to his own devices.

Trump as president essentially can’t be sued for libel if it’s even tangentially connected to his role as president. So yeah, Trump could say something, OANN could echo it, and OANN could get sued for libel while Trump couldn’t.
I think the keynote of Trump’s strategy as I laid out should be holding a rally like the day or two before the new congress counts the electoral votes (January 4? I have no idea) with Flynn and Powell. I really have been treated very unfairly, many people are saying some of my supposedly closest allies are RINOs, very sad, etc. Then he does the Trump dance to this:

Matty is right. Trump will never say this. I think maybe he manages to be at Mara Lago when it’s time to get kicked out, never ever says he’s not the legitimate President and starts campaigning for 2024.
No that’s not how he’ll frame it. He was the legitimate president, he won the election, he took as many legal steps as he could, he explored other steps. But everyone was lined up against him. Democrats, his people – RINOS, traitors, really – none of them wanted to know how many votes actually were for Trump. So he had two choices: tear the country apart, or try again in four years. Believe me, many people were saying that we shouldn’t have backed down, etc etc etc, but believe me there would have been destruction like you’ve never seen.
