I haven’t been to Oslo but yeah. Would go Stockholm or Reykjavik over that if you want Scandi, or maybe Bergen even (also haven’t been there). Definitely go to Vienna if you haven’t done that yet. Krakow is a good visit depending on what you want to do.
This is very much a white person problem but I’ve been to most of well-known and many lesser known destinations in Europe. When I look at flights out of Prague, it’s places I’ve been to, boring places, or flights that are too expensive.
It’s why Belgrade and Tirana are my options now. Could use both as a base for a trip in either Serbia or Albania. There aren’t any direct flights for the days that I have off but I haven’t been to either of them.
I have a fascination with the Balkans and Eastern Europe that I don’t fully understand.

I found that Oslo was very much like Helsinki, in that it seems like a fantastic place to live, but I wouldn’t have wanted to visit for any longer than the six hours I was there.
Oslo is pretty boring, no specific need to visit imo. Bergen is much much better. Simply flying into Oslo and taking the train to Bergen, with a side trip on the Flamsbana, would be a great time though.
Tirana doesn’t have a ton to see either, but it sure as hell ain’t boring. Side trip to Berat and you’ve got yourself a nice little trip. I’ve always wants to see Theth (like, it’s high on my travel list globally) but that seems well beyond the scope of what you can do in that amount of time.
Haven’t been to either, but this is exactly how I felt about Brussels.
Yep, spent 2.5 days in Helsinki and that was more than enough for a visit.
There are lots of places around Flathead Lake that would fit well.

Oh man I missed this post! How was it? Shreveport is a dump, why were you there? I did my residency there and couldn’t wait to gtfo.
Also looks like I’ll be in Disney World next month, taking my kid to Magic Kingdom and visiting some of my wife’s family there. Any of the Disney experts been there since they got rid of FastPass? You guys were a huge help on my last trip there when we hit up Epcot in 2019. My daughter is close to five years old now, probably most excited about meeting Mickey, Minnie, and the princesses, as opposed to going on rides. Any advice that will make our lives easier and our trip more enjoyable is appreciated! We’re also debating between a second day at either Animal Kingdom or Universal Studios, if anyone has an opinion. Leaning Universal because I figure now is a great time for her to see the Dr. Seuss and Minions stuff but open to suggestions.
Wife and I are looking into an Italy trip for November. Just the two of us, we ain’t got no deadweight kids. We like food and wine culture. Any thoughts? We’re just going for a week, so probably want to fly into an accessible city and then maybe do a brief excursion out to a smaller city. We’d love to make it to Sicily if that’s doable.

I went there to do live reporting for the volleyball Nations League (god knows why they chose Shreveport). I ended up ahead a few hundred dollars so worked out for me.
Definitely the most run down part of America I’ve seen, although where I stayed in Memphis the next week was probably dodgier.

Anybody been to Serbia before?

Memphis was a major let down when I went through there on my way to AZ back in 2007 but I’m sure there are some interesting things to do and see there. Shreveport is just like a culturally barren wasteland of a city, like they took all the bad parts of Louisiana and east Texas and made an amalgamation, although a friend I made late in my stay there was able to show me a few minor highlights I had missed (nothing worth visiting or sticking around for but certainly enough to make it more bearable). It’s been years since I lived there but even if it hadn’t been I would have had sparingly few things to recommend seeing, doing, or eating there.
I know the wind river range in WY is good for this type of thing, but I don’t have any specific lodge recommendations

My only association to Shreveport is the following exchange from the sitcom Reba:
“Barbra Jean, are you really going to bring a group of Baptists to my home to pry about this?”
“They’re Shreveport Baptists!”
Was just listening to a Kevin Nash (the wrestler) podcast and he was recounting life on the road and for some reason specifically mentioned Shreveport as a city that was worth sticking around in a bit longer. Mainly for the row of bars or whatever it has. Nashville was the other city mentioned.
Sicily is great. Maybe not in November though. I gotta imagine that without beach weather, everything kinda stops.
You would definitely have to put in a little more work to find the gems (food and wine) vs somewhere farther north.

No clue what this would even be referring to although it’s quite likely Kevin Nash and I run in different circles. A quick Google search indicates that maybe he was talking about the breweries there, which were…fine, when I lived there. Certainly nothing I’d recommend that someone visit although if you’re stuck there anyway you could do worse. The one desirable attraction in the area would probably be the casinos in Bossier City, which is a neighboring city about the same size as Shreveport (no clue where one starts and the other ends really). There’s also apparently an aquarium there which opened several years after I moved away, which is unfortunate because I probably would’ve gone there a lot.
