Holy fuck, man. Really?!
Yes, really, I think. Unless you meant to reply to somebody else. What is the problem?
I, for one, am especially glad to see that you could take this moment and make it about how much better you are than everyone else.
Gonna go ahead and repeat what I said to Skydiver8:
Itâs entirely possible you didnât read the post I was replying to so Iâll just say, yes, I agree it would be super bad for somebody to take this moment and make it about how much better they are than everyone else.
For the love of god can we not respond to 6ix on this forum. There is a pitbull 2p2 OOT thread that is just for responding to 6ix.
Agreed, we should stick to the point here, which is that if weâd all listened to Rugby in this thread 15 months ago, Rivaldo would never have posted what he posted. He TOLD us, we didnât listen
Chuckleslovakian did the thing.
You can try and make this place safer, you actively choose not to.
To use an analogy.
Imagine Chris has a bunch of guys he plays football with.
One of them does a bunch of creepy insulting shit to women.
Someone calls it out. Not only does Chris not agree, he goes out of the way to point out how the complainer is shrill, hysterical etc, ridicules them for exaggerating.
Well, yeah, if that creeper sticks around and molests a woman at the club house then fuck yes Chris is responsible.
And here, again. Without a single seconds fucking pause heâs in here taking the piss, without knowing what happened.
Edit: I originally replied engaging in argument but Iâm not going to do that. This thread is from 17 months ago man. You can think whatever you like of me, I sincerely do not care.
Iâll just say that I find this idea of yours that any deviation from total agreement with you puts in me league with the worst transphobes on earth to be incredibly reactionary thinking. Itâs literally âyouâre with us or youâre with the terroristsâ, the context is very different but the idea is the same.
The obvious difference being if the world had more people like six it would be a much better place.
If the world had more of people like you it would only be slightly shittier. All that to say is you are probably a decent person.
Youâre in a cult my man.
The cult of 6 has one member, me!
I went back and skimmed this thread and my god there are some horrible takes. There is also blatant transphobia from a couple of posters that isnât in the category of slight disagreement. Obviously Rivaldo was one of them. I can see why that might make a trans person uncomfortable. It is pretty simple. Trans people are under attack right now. They deserve unequivocal support rather than treating this issue as an intellectual exercise to determine exactly where the âfairâ point is for excluding them in womenâs sports. As I said last year thatâs falling for the bait the right has laid out for you.
This is some weird âno true leftistâ gatekeeping.
No but it probably means youâre familiar with the struggles cancer patients experience, right?
Well said.
As someone who has previously taken this bait on more than one occasion, I realize I need to do better.
I agree that there are some really bad takes, but I disagree that a topic like this should be off limits in order to show unequivocal support. There are lines being drawn in the real worldâbasically all of them much farther to the right than we would preferâand I think discussing the proper placement of those lines is a fine discussion within a community at least supposedly dedicated to discussing politics.
Topics like this are tricky though because it kinda has to be an academic exercise, given the predominantly cis het male makeup of this board. Similarly for issues of sexism and racism. I think to have an actual discussion on these topics we need a community built on mutual respect, which we donât really have, and we need to extend a lot of respect to folks directly impacted by these issues and should strive to make them feel safe.
Idk, itâs tricky.
