They'll Rock Us in Caracas

It’s a fair question. To a lot of people who don’t follow things closely, this probably looks like a major victory.

As long as kidnapping a foreign leader has set the precedent, I wonder who will step in and ‘do us a favor, though’.

All your base are belong to us.

I wouldn’t be surprised if these numbers are flipped before tonight and no one recalls what they said previously.

Yeah, context is everything. Invading made it sound like Iraq 2.0.

venezuela vice president says country will not become a US colony and demands Maduro’s release. so at least publicly this is not the quick fix trump claimed.

I’m sure this will cause a great reckoning among all the Trumpers who denounced the Iraq invasion and all the “Deep State men with lanyards” running things at the Pentagon.

I’m just baffled at what the fuck happens next. 2026 blows. Guess I’ll watch some football and hit some golf balls.

  • Puppet government installed
  • Trump cronies take over and loot Venezuelan economy (with requisite payoffs/kickbacks to Trump)

Pretty calm and straightforward imo.

Match the statement to the source.

  1. BENJAMIN NETANYAHU
  2. CHINESE FOREIGN MINISTRY
  3. UKRAINE’S FOREIGN MINISTER ANDRII SYBIHA
  4. RUSSIA FOREIGN MINISTRY
  5. IRANIAN FOREIGN MINISTRY
  6. KEIR STARMER

A. deeply shocked and strongly condemn the use of force by the U.S. against a sovereign country and the use of force against the president of a country

B. This morning, the United States committed an act of armed aggression against Venezuela. This is deeply concerning and condemnable. The pretexts used to justify such actions are unfounded. Ideological animosity has prevailed over business pragmatism and the willingness to build relationships based on trust and predictability.

C. Congratulations, President @realDonaldTrump for your bold and historic leadership on behalf of freedom and justice. I salute your decisive resolve and the brilliant action of your brave soldiers.

D. I want to establish the facts first. I want to speak to President Trump. I want to speak to allies. I can be absolutely clear that we were not involved … and I always say and believe we should all uphold international law

E. condemned the U.S. attack on Venezuela “as a blatant violation of its national sovereignty and territorial integrity.” called on the UN Security Council to “act immediately to halt the unlawful aggression” and hold those responsible accountable.

F. Ukraine has consistently defended the right of nations to live freely, free of dictatorship, oppression, and human rights violations. The Maduro regime has violated all such principles in every respect. We stand for further developments in accordance with the principles of international law, prioritising democracy, human rights, and the interests of Venezuelans.

I think that assumes a bit more competence than what I’m willing to do.

and if a lot people die along the way, cost of doing business.

I think there’s a few steps before the puppet government, and I don’t think that is guaranteed.

Only thing I’m 100% convinced of is a serious humanitarian situation in Cuba soon.

I hear you. I am definitely giving more credit to these jamokes than is due.

The twitter level maga bro takes are predictable but still wild to me.

“WHERE WERE YOU LIBRULL TEARSS when barrack HUSSEIN obama was droning CIVILIANS”

like what argument is being made here? For one, obama has been widely criticized from a variety of political spectrums for these actions, and much has been made about what a joke it was he won the peace prize. So, like even your premise is bad, but whatever, let’s go with it -

I recall at the time radio conservatives frothing at the mouth at the drone strikes. So you didn’t support them then, and thought it was wrong, I could levy the same kind of question at you now? are you just pointing out that everyone is a hypocrite in like a cynical way, or are you thinking this somehow supports the invasion and abduction of a foreign leader of a sovereign country? Because I think you think it’s the latter
