I’M DOING IT GODDAMIT!
There are definitely some very, uh… memorable scenes with Margot Robbie.
Have you been to a kibbutz? God i hope Jared Leto is a method actor.
If Jared Leto lives on a kibbutz for a few weeks they will have to buy more land in a year.
Wolf of Wall St. is awesome. I thought me and my friends were nihilistic in our early 20s. Nothing more nihilistic than stockbrokers apparently.
Haven’t watched it since it was in theatres but I remember thinking that while I could respect the acting (especially the country club scene which I laughed a lot at) and direction, the rampant misogyny of the film (even if accurate - I have read the book) put me off. I also felt it was way too long but again this likely comes down to having read the book and feeling it was a fairly shot for shot adaptation.
Read Liar’s Poker by Michael Lewis if you want more.
I am doubtful of the GME thing to continue into next week just because of the downtime until Monday. I think people are gonna get bored / disinterested. Would love to be proven wrong though. It’s not like anything else new is gonna get happening on Monday, so maybe it’ll continue.
Read that too - love Michael Lewis.
Loved WoWS. Constantly surprised me.
Now we’re on to the original Wall Street (movie). Literally the only Oliver Stone movie I can still watch. And Platoon was one of my favorite movies at one point in my life.
So weird seeing so many shots of the World Trade Towers.
the bull case is that a lot of people are switching brokers so by Monday they will be able to buy as many shares as they want
All this talk of movies about stonks and no love for Boiler Room?
In retrospect the most unrealistic thing about Wall Street is the lack of blow.
Underrated film. Probably why I didn’t like wolf of wall street though. I felt like I saw it before.
It was boiler room with a goodfellas narration vibe.
Also so much smoking. Everyone smoking. All the time. (Wall Street)
So quaint - Blue Star Airlines shot up to 24, then dropped to 16. ZOMG such swong!
