The regular stonk market is going to be a crazy bull market until it’s not anymore imo. Meaning sitting out is trying to time the market. Does anyone really see a bear market the next few years? I don’t.

Covered all of their shorts without actually buying any shares. Magic!

bear market confirmed

Maybe, markets are more psychological than analytical as we’ve seen

Interesting piece.

So what Dow 50k very very reasonable? woof.

The DOW first hit 20k 4 years ago. Money printer in overdrive.

I mean you can’t say we’re in a bear market. We’re in one of the greatest bull markets in history. So if you’re betting against this market, you’re basically saying “I know the bull market is going to stop soon”. Right?

Maybe someone should make a thread about that lol.

Good point. Should have been clearer. I don’t think we have clear skies at all for 10-20% yearly gains that most bulls I talk to are expecting. I would expect underperformance/stagnation but what do I know, I’ve been bearish since covid and obviously am a loser.

I think the party is just going to get crazier and crazier until the next crash. When does the market ever get this frothy and just slowly unwind instead of crashing?

Some smart guy once explained it like this: Short selling provides an incentive to publish bad news. Without it every market participant would only ever want stocks to go up, up, up because there is no way to profit from declining stocks.

is my NOT STONKS position too strong?

No you’re probably right. Two kinds of STONKS are ok:

  1. Low cost long term diversified boring STONKS to generate long term improvement in household financial wellness.

  2. Low stakes STONKS by people that know its pure gambling and are doing it for lols because a loss won’t impact their financial wellness.

Someone who could suffer a meaningful loss shouldn’t make speculative trades any more than they should head to a casino with the same money.

Right, although I think I’m mostly operating in the framework of #2, and saying even if it’s just for the lolz it’s still a terrible bet. But I looked at some more technicals after that skype convo and I think I might’ve overstated it, and there’s still some track in front of the train.

I just don’t think a random schmoe will know what to do. I think even seasoned STONKers who never looked at cryptocurrency markets and seen this sort of speculative insanity won’t get what they’re looking at. I’ve seen 30x pumps on vaporware coins in a matter of days, and seen exactly what happened after.
