yeah I’ve been jonesing for the return of Poker Face since s1 ended. However, I am having a problem staying interested this season, and I wonder if it’s me or the show.
Though I firmly believe that S2 is not living up to S1’s awesomeness, I can’t get past the feeling that
this season is exponentially sillier and more farcical than S1, often to the point of absurdity. And it has become quite distracting. I get that the show is a wink and a nod to Columbo. I’m fine with that part, hell that’s the reason I started it in the first place. But even though there were more than a few ridiculous plot points and laughably unlikely scenarios in S1, the show was still one that could be taken seriously. Much like the creator’s (Rian Johnson) Knives Out films, the comedy was peppered throughout a story that viewers were looking forward to resolution. The main questline was not only compelling, but believable. It made sense. It kept me interested. There were silly moments, sure, and they were usually funny. But the show made sense. This season…not so much.
