The first time I realized he was in The Usual Suspects I was like, there’s no fucking way that’s him. Then I realized that movie is nearly 30 years old now so duh
Wow.
Would be fun to look back over a series of images showing him from his earliest to most recent role.
I just finished binging Andor, kind of heard about this show, came across your comment, was like , watching the first 30 minutes and was like ok not exactly my type of show but has good potential, but then I just was too curious to see what was being praised in ep 7 and I just went straight to it and
Ozymandias is a bit overrated imo, this episode was the real shit. That was insanely insanely good, and I get that the other 6 episodes established plot points and culpability that this episode subverted, but it really works on its own too. Great recommend.
You need to go back and watch for context now. It really delivers on so much you see from his perspective earlier. It’s genius.
Bah, episode 7 FiiT simply exposed the single biggest flaw in the series.
Ex nocall/noshow kids, no one has talked to her in a week? Ummm, contact authorities maybe? Ever heard of a wellness check?
We’re supposed to believe she dropped out of her life for a month?
Strongly disagree. You are calling it a flaw when it’s the whole point.
I read this after I watched the episode
And it touches on the stuff I missed. I appreciate that I skipped a bunch of stuff that could have made this even better, but just use me as a weirdo data point, it’s a fantastic piece of tv without knowing ~anything about the show, and between the narration and what you can infer you get most of it, or at least enough to be moved by it.
I haven’t watched FiiT, although I’ve read the book.
I have no real interest in seeing the show, possibly because I disliked the ending so much that I can’t remember much else about the book, other than the basics of the main plot.
Never heard of this show but Homeland ruined Claire Danes for me
What. She is brilliant in homeland.
The show was ponderous as was her character arc. The bomb should have gone off at the end of the first season
The show itself took such a nosedive after season 1 that it ruined everyone.
Sure but she was consistently grewt in it.
Sure, Homeland post S1 is batshit. I still enjoy it.
Please, my father is Grewt.
Sad His Dark Materials is over. The books were such a big part of my childhood and the show absolutely did it justice.
I definitely thought Fleishman was good. But the “twist”, if you can call it that, was not unexpected. Not sure if it was supposed to be, there was a fair amount of foreshadowing - Fleishman having a healthy amount of dickishness to him, and I thought it was obvious that the ex-wife had had a breakdown when the women said they saw her sleeping in the park. This show reminds me so much of Joey Soloway’s movie Afternoon Delight. Similar themes of mid-life angst and breakdowns. Several of the same cast members, even. And lots of Jewishness.
We. Are. Grewt.
Never realized Giancarlo Esposito was in Trading Spaces, but that didn’t really shock me. What shocked me after looking up his full filmography was that he was Buggin Out in Do The Right Thing.
Watched Slow Horses E5 this AM. Gotta wait for season finale now.
Def got me hooked.
