This is a pretty enjoyable watch if you’re of a certain age and feeling nostalgic. How they came to be who they were in the 80’s and then transition into who they were in the 90’s is one of music’s more compelling stories imo.
Going to watch this today. I love the beastie boys.
Edit. This was pretty awesome. If you are a fan and grew up with these guys you will love it. Great reminder that we are not the same people today as when we were young. Change is good.
I really really want to see the Beastie Boys doc, can’t imagine it isn’t great with Jonze at the helm, but is there something I can do other than sign up for Apple + to see it?
Free 5 day trial for anyone.
Yeah and even without the free trial it’s only 5 bucks for a month. Pretty much chalk it up as a rental of the doc (which is supposed to be really good) and then you can watch The Morning Show, which I thoroughly enjoyed.
Middleditch and Schwartz is fantastic.
Ben Schwartz and Thomas Middleditch do three separate long form improv sessions from single discussions with an audience member. Its hilarious and brilliant. Each episode is about an hour with about 55 of that as improv, which is incredibly impressive since it’s two guys and they dont take continuous suggestions but build an entire routine off of one suggestion discussion.
Anyway, watch it. Both guys are very funny, though I think Schwartz outclasses Middleditch a tiny bit.
Schwartz is just better at it. He’s one of the 3 best CBB guests with Paul F Tompkins and Andy Daly.
Man finally watching better call saul and I don’t get it at all. It’s like 1/4 the show BB was and with zero stakes. If it wasn’t for Kim, yikes. Just finished S3 so I assume it gets a lot better without mckeans character. Not getting the love.
What Middleditch is way better than Schwartz on CBB. Schwartz doesn’t even do a character half the time.
Nope, if you don’t like it by now, it’s not for you.
Well I like it enough… I guess. 1/4 of BB is good enough to watch.
yeah, not liking through S3 of BCS is…
I mean, I don’t get it, but it just might not be for you.
yeah, I mixed them up when posting. Should say middleditch is way better. The weird slide episode within the last year had me in stitches.
Just watched 1917. I don’t know anything about making movies or how difficult it is to edit but damn I love me some no cut scenes.
It’s why I think Children of Men is one of the single best films ever made.
BCS requires liberal fast forwarding, IMO.
A show that “requires liberal fast forwarding” is 100% not for me.
How does this even work on something you’ve never seen before and why would you bother watching something like that?
Do not listen to him. The cinematographers on BCS are the best in the business. Nothing should be fast forwarded
New Cosmos has an awful trailer so my kid was understandabley not that interested. Watched Planet Earth on jungles instead. Some wild shit. Elephants are GOAT contenders, obv. Plants that drown ants in their mouths and then eat them. Sometimes a huge-ass spider with translucent skin crawls down into the plant and eats some of the tougher bits, leaving the gruel that the plant loves most (symbiotic relationships like that blow my mind). Chimpanzees looking scarily human and going on a Predator-ish jungle exploration/hunt. Gorgeous canopy shots. Birds of paradise looking like aliens more fucked than anything in Avatar. David Attenborough doing his grandpa-ASMR-cool-uncle bit. Recommended.
Also the private detective kids are some of my favorite recurring characters
