I was actually just going to post about Messiah. If I recall correctly, it was pretty hit or miss with people here. I was on the side that enjoyed it, but it wasn’t the greatest thing I’ve ever seen.
But what I was going to post is that Netflix is not renewing it for season 2, so that’s that.
Binged Picard over the past couple of days and as a very big TNG fan, it was meh at best. The best part of the season was the deference showed to the storylines in the original series and movies with this group of characters. Where we are with the characters in this show made sense considering where we last left them.
But much of the dialogue was just awful and considering how much exposition there is, this is a bit of a problem. The new characters, including the lead, were one dimensional and boring (except Rafi, she’s a bad mofo), and the ending is ludicrous even by sci-fi standards.
Will watch season 2 if they offer another free preview at some point. But never paying for this.
WWZ much better on rewatch than I thought it would be. I just remember the lol behind the scenes stuff with reshooting a third of the movie and cutting out Matthew Fox’s entire character.
Not streaming free anywhere, I got a new YouTube TV trial.
Been reading the book again and it’s a masterpiece. Audiobook is the GOAT version though with a different actor for each character vignette.
Highly recommended as a more fun way to process pandemic anxiety than Contagion.
I think the disappointment in the movie is just how bad it was compared to how great the book was. It’s one of the worst adaptations of all time. As a standalone zombie movie it’s in the ok-not bad range. But as an adaptation, terrible.
Good point. I hope they do it justice one day as a kind of anthology series on HBO. Each episode would tell a different vignette. I mean the book has something like 50 different POVs/vignettes that take place over a decade-long pandemic. They could easily out pace The Walking Dead in seasons.
3022 got eviscerated in critic and audience reviews, but I am halfway through and am enjoying the hell out of it. Good for fans of Sunshine, Cloverfield Paradox, Event Horizon. Here’s hoping it doesn’t all fall apart in the second half
