The Television Streaming Thread: Now With Felonies

You know it’s funny watching Henry Winkler now to think that he used to be like the coolest guy in the world.

Just finished Ozark S3. Underrated show, imo. Not elite, but better than most think.

For all mankind

Were people from Mexico having to sneak across the border in 1969?

Was there an American base on the moon in 1974

I’m not that far yet (S1E1) but from a plot standpoint, our timeline and the shows timeline diverged in July 1969 so I think my question was valid, thanks for the link. The whole point of the show is that 1974 is different.

oh sorry for the spoiler (though I don’t think it’s much of a spoiler) I was just trying to make a joke about it being an alt-history.

There were times watching it that it seemed like they were going for an “are we the baddies?” vibe but they really pulled the punches.

First episode of Marvel’s What If is fan-fucking-tastic.

Huh thought it was pretty lame like just gender bend the movie and pack it into 30 minutes. The next couple look a lot more fun.

It was good for what it was but I have a feeling this series will be largely forgettable.

Watched the 4 seasons of Rick and Morty. I put it in the, good but not great category. It’s has great jokes, call backs, etc. but also feels heartless.

Harmon’s type of humor is the same; meta, call back jokes, absurdites, but when for Community you got invested and rooted for the characters because they were all failures and well there was some humanity there. Here Rick’s almost always the ahole, is almost always going to win, and almost always they’ll throw something in that, hey he really does care for Morty and this family, but with 9/10ths of the show just him being a complete a-hole the amoralism and nihilism wore me out until I was just watching the show for the mechanics of jokes and appreciating them without really caring too much about the show.

Tales from the Citadel was a stand out masterpiece though.

As a fan of the original kitschy CW sci fi show Roswell, when it dropped on Netflix I wanted to see how the new series was and it’s not good. Really couldn’t make it through the first season. Jeanine Mason does good as the lead but that’s about the only bright spot.

Regardless of what one thinks of Rick & Morty (I have not seen the current season yet), Rick talking through burps is still hilarious.

What R&M is doing is a masterclass in giving the middle finger to their audience, its quite interesting. From the “1 season every 2 years” approach to the literal middle finger of the “train” episode from S4 to the tiniest doling out of plot movement/lore/backstory in 1 episode every season. When its finally done it will be a case study for sure.

The final episode of White Lotus was pretty good. I liked the class consciousness stuff they were going for, even if not perfectly done.

Yeah I enjoyed the series overall. The soundtrack was an absolute banger. Hotel manager GOAT.

Ehhhh, I think there were a lot of missteps. I would have loved to hear more from the Detroit players as well. Maybe a bit more about just how awful the media was during the whole thing.

Nobody obviously comes off well in the process, but Metta clearly had some major mental health issues at the time, and its something that the media really should have explored in the process.
