The Television Streaming Thread: Now With Felonies

I think this is really valid. I’m not in the dating market but if I was I would be turned off by certain choices in TV. It would be like we didn’t fit if our tastes were quite different. I guess it’s a bit like politics.

I’m not in the dating market either but The Shield fills this role for me, in terms of a drama that says a lot to me about a person if they love it as much as I do (and I’ve even made friendships this way).

In comedy, Mr. Show is probably one of the best examples for me, historically speaking, of a show that if you love it as much as I do we’ll probably be friends. It’s not strictly speaking my favorite show or the best show, but I think the combination of its sensibility and humor and the relative obscurity in languished in and effort it took to find it made it a lot more likely that we’d be on the same wavelength if you did put in the effort to find it and loved it. (I mean, by contrast, classic Simpsons is also on my wavelength, but that was also one of the most popular shows on TV when it aired.)

My wife and I watch very different shows much of the time.

Not at all like politics imo. That would be a deal-breaker.

Yea… I have to watch most stuff on my own while she watches some of the worst reality tv on the planet.

We’ve shared GoT, BrBa, The Leftovers and S1 of Hannibal so that’s something.

Are you married to my wife?

I think the last thing that my wife and I watched truly together was Game of Thrones.

Most things we watch “together” are recommendations, where one of us had seen it already.

I recommended Fleabag, so I re-watched it at the same time she saw it for the first time. She returned the favor with Pui Pui Molcar, so fair trade imo.

Fleabag is in top 3 shows of past ten years for sure.

lol at watching the fucking wire with a new girl. One of the most depression shows of all time and the n word thrown around all over the place. She’d think you’re a pyscho.

Yeah I have no clue what y’all are thinking with that.

Yeah but Pui Pui Molcar is top 2.

Started season 28 of survivor (blind, although I do know gman’s fate). Following the 8 year old threads on 2p2 is making it very enjoyable - even seeing some familiar names show up. Just got to the merge and it’s been a wild ride.

Nightcap of some early Aronofsky to find out if she’s the one.

The Matt Gaetz dating criteria includes “too young to have seen The Wire”.

Almost done with Season1 of Watchmen on HBO. Definitely worth seeing if you’re into that kind of thing.

I think its just one “season”, more like a miniseries.

So I was watching Star Wars: The Bad Batch…and see this

Even Star Wars trying to get on the Pui Pui Molcar action…

Watching season 14 of IASIP.

Dee had a crazy amount of cosmetic surgery done. It’s actually a bit jarring. Would’ve made for a good episode if they did one about it.

But it’s a shame because I thought she looked great before it.

It’s basically like they found out people will still defend Lost, not Lost’s beginnings or its moments of brilliance throughout but the entire show as an entity, and decided to go Full Lindelof.

I tapped out at the end of the second season and have always been perplexed by the 3rd season ratings. It didn’t seem possible as the 2nd season was one long

“No one shall mention the name Armin Tamzarian again, under penalty of torture”

This hypothetical new girl’s potential reaction I think would mirror my current one after reading this post.
