The Television Streaming Thread: Now With Felonies

Depends I suppose on if you think just of the fate of the Boy or whether you’re thinking of humanity beyond the final page.

I sometimes speculate about the possibility that bacteria or some other form of microscopic or deep sea life will survive and in time thrive.

If you haven’t read the book, here is the ending:

Okay I really enjoyed Circle (not “The Circle”)

I appreciate any show/movie that can keep me engaged with minimalism.

My biggest takeaway is this was made in 2015 and is a literal blueprint of how Americans would fracture/get along over the next five years.

as for the ending I would have been happy with the baby heart beat cut to black being the end, I actually didn’t even understand the very last bit at the spaceship.

I give it 3.75 twizzlers.

By the way I know why when I saw the movie “The Circle” listed it triggered me. Netflix has a reality show called “The Circle” (multiple country versions) that I had seen). So my brain got confused.

I got to watch the road in a theater alone with my friend as he was a manager there and we could just go after hours and watch something, in retrospect I shoulda done that more often

Eastern Promises is on Peacock. Free with commercials.

A History of Violence is pretty great. Vigo has been in some solid movies, even without LoTR.

My ex-wife’s first cousin is a couple of years younger than Viggo, and both Viggo and she lived in Watertown, NY.

During one of our visits back to the aunt’s home in Watertown, she found an old recital program from something like “Miss Brewster’s Little Phenoms,” with both Viggo and Cousin Lisa listed among the kids performing.

I did not care for the John Brown miniseries and gave up half way through. Too unrelenting over the top. The only episode I really enjoyed was the 2nd, because it was so much less in your face.

I checked out the first episode of Snowpiercer s1 and liked it enough to skip to the finale, but now I am very mad at myself for being lazy and not watching the whole thing. Some very cool twists happened along the way.

With random offering week to week. The next biggest dump will be on Jan 12.

I have limited time and am not going to watch the whole thing. I just wanted to see what the production team delivered as a single-season experience.

To be clear, I passed on watching the full season of Snowpiercer so I could finally focus watch the Ultimate edition of Batman V Superman. I do feel slightly ashamed but c’est la vie.

An enormous amount of money and time has been put into his upcoming Justice League: the Snyder Cut. I’m really not a fan of what he has to say through his movies–Lex Luthor is Snyder’s voice–but in preparation for his upcoming release, I thought this time I’d at least pay attention to what he’s trying to say.

This is such a weird phrase to me. Like, honestly, I feel like a different species or something. But maybe that’s how you’re able to consume so much content?

But also, RiskyFlush I just wanted to say that I love your posts and I am glad you post here at UP as often as you do.

ETA I grunched the very end of this thread and missed goofyballer’s “wat”, but yeah, that’s what I was thinking. :)

OK, the other thing I wanted to say:

I just finished the Sopranos. And besides two Bluth brother cameos, Hamilton is a bellhop?!?!

One thing that occurred to me: I have a hunch that the Sopranos was a better watch as a weekly thing than as a binged show. Don’t get me wrong, I loved it, but I feel like if it was being made now, they’d approach some things differently. The way they jumpcut or whatever across storylines and timelines is kind of annoying at times (to someone used to binging whole seasons).

Also, just saw it for the first time ever a few minutes ago, and I loved the final scene.

I liked the final scene, perfectly fine ending

Funny that I was writing my post at the same time as @Danspartan’s post right above me. Yes, there’s something about the weekly show that is different, for sure. It changes what works well, too.

Why ty!!

I tend to watch all of something. For years and years, I’ve tended to watch one season of TV or two or three movies per day. This is on top of reading a few books each week. I binge stories of some sort from the moment I wake up to the moment I go to sleep. For a long time, I listened to audiobooks as I fell asleep, too.

But I am exploring healthy limits in 2021. I probably don’t have a lot of things in my life that most people do. Those empty spaces are filled with reading/watching stories, writing stories, or helping someone else write their story.

I cleared out my Netflix list. It now has about fifteen movies/TV shows. It only contains things I have committed to watching. If I turn it off because I don’t like it, it’s gone. I won’t add anything else until I finish these selections.

I saw Snowpiercer on HBO Max and could see it was something I am not going to watch in full anytime soon. But I didn’t want to just read the wikipedia. I adore Jennifer Connelly. I already read both graphic novels and loved the movie.

This was the compromise I made with myself instead of giving up the rest of the day or sacrificing something else from the List. I need to leave that space open for more than stories and see what else I might fill it with.

Apologies for the TR : DL if you came here for more movie reviews and less personal stuff. Please continue
