The Television Streaming Thread: Now With Felonies

Did I manage to sell you on The Shield with my earlier post? I don’t love Mad Men, but it is quite good and worth seeing.

If you want something funny to try out, Nathan For You is my pick for best show of the 2010s.

Sledge Hammer.

edit: I’ve only watched a few Sledge Hammer episodes but I liked it. If you liked it and Police Squad!, you might like Angie Tribeca.

I’ve fired up Disney+ to watch the opening ten minutes of Thor: Ragnarok like five times now. What an absolutely righteous intro sequence. Underappreciated superhero movie imo.

It’s a parody similar to Police Squad!, but updated for the 21st century, so it’s more making fun of CSI-type shows. Ran four seasons on TBS and IMO got better each season.

Define underappreciated :eyes:

Dont snipe my pick bro

Thor:Ragnarok is one of the few I’ve seen already because I was a fan of Taika Waititi. Am looking forward to getting there.

Certainly I remember it being much better than Thor, directed by my fellow countryperson Kenneth Branagh. It was an absolute mess, I thought, not always terrible but about 4 films in one. The film in Asgard was either pompous beyond belief (when Hopkins or Idris Elba was on screen), or like a student production of a Shakespeare comedy (when Thor’s incredibly forgettable sidekicks appeared). Then you had a really dumb fish-out-of-water comedy, which was maybe the best given Chris Hemsworth is pure class, but that miserably made way for a boring and spectacularly unconvincing romance. Finally Tom Hiddlestone was trying to get the actual action movie done, but they forgot he’s only convincing as a weirdo figure of fun and made him be all angsty instead.

Somehow it was a tiny bit better than that all sounds, but only a tiny bit. I used to like Branagh and everything, but this was a big pile of pants. For the first half he kept putting his camera crooked as if the audience tilting their heads might stop them thinking about the film for a second. Didn’t work, Ken. Still, they can’t stop me now, I’ll be back for more shortly.

I don’t recommend re-watching The Lonely Island videos on YouTube like I just did. You will lose a lot of time during which you should be working. My god those guys are geniuses.

I read a few comments. I actually laughed out loud at this one from “Jizz In My Pants”:

“why did 9 year old me think jizz was another word for piss? once asked my teacher after watching this if i could go for a jizz in the toilet… i still to this day lose sleep over thinking about it…”

I knew there was a chance Ken would whiff it way back when he took a swing at Frankenstein

lol what? There’s 8 seasons of Law and Order: UK? I’ve got to watch the first episode to see if it has the "buuuum bum bum bum bummmm*

British accent “And the crown prosecutors who prosecute the offenders. These are their stories”

Lol.

Edit: Nope, no sax intro just some weird trumpet and drums intro that sounds like it belongs in the West Wing.

Edit 2: But there is a “dun dun” and a location card! Aww some nostalgia.

My wife and I finished Schitt’s Creek, so she was hunting for something else to get into a couple days ago. From reading this thread, I suggested Dark. Hoo boy it’s good. We’ll probably finish the final two episodes tomorrow.

EDIT: Final two episodes of Season 1. Didn’t realize there was more than one season!

fuck that, Lance cheated but so did everyone else. He was a true champion and got fucked over by butthurt French assholes who were enraged they couldn’t come close to beating him no matter how hard they cheated.

All of you people discovering Dark independently of each other and then one by one coming itt to say how much you love it is almost enough to get me to watch it.

Almost.

Starting season 4 of The Shield. Enter Glenn Close.

The show is pretty solid and I’m entertained with no thoughts of quitting. Some of the plotlines are a bit dated/formulaic, but I also have to keep reminding myself this show is well over a decade old. Anyway, I’m happily making progress and hope to be done in a week or two. I’ve heard the ending is fantastic so that’s nice to know.

Yeah, I think you’re getting to the point where the quality really ramps up and continues to do so through the end. Also guesting this season: Anthony Anderson.

Ahhh yes, Keed on the side of the liars and cheaters. What a surprise…

Ah yes, Lance was a blight on the previously pristine sport of professional cycling. Good take bro.

Do you feel the same about one Barry Lamar Bonds?
