The Supreme Court: RIP Literally Everything

I said the exact opposite. Your system is infecting ours. Not sure why you are trying to fight.

I wish I had hope. Explain to me a path where your system remains a functioning democracy. What exactly is going to accomplish that? I want to be wrong.

Trumpā€™s minions filed dozens of specious lawsuits after the election. Some of them even got before Trump-appointed judges. Every single one was shot down on no merits. If we had no rule of law, those lawsuits would have gone a lot farther and could have overturned the election. Thatā€™s what Iā€™m talking about. Itā€™s the literal definition of rule of law.

Do we have a lot of problems? Yes. But we donā€™t have a god-king like Putin who can push anything he wants through any court in the country with a phone call.

You believe in them to overthrow an authoritarian right wing government by force? Or are you under the impression that theyā€™re going to eventually get to vote?

The idea that socialist democracies havenā€™t benefited from the power of the US military is just asinine.

Pretending otherwise isnā€™t any different than USA#! morons not understanding Americaā€™s rise to superpower status following industrial warfare.

yeah but next time theyā€™re gonna bypass those pesky judges and just directly send their own slates of electors. Then itā€™s up to a gerrymandered congress beholden to extremist primary voters to sort it out.

Yes I am aware of that. It keeps me up at night. But I think fighting against it is a better attitude than just conceding the rule of law is dead and WAAF.

Cynical gallows humor acceptance is one way the Overton window shifts. If a populace goes from thinking they have more or less fair elections to ā€œLol at you for thinking elections arenā€™t riggedā€ (meaning like Stalin-rigged, not just gerrymandering). That opens the door a little wider for an actual Putin-style sham democracy where everyone is just cynical about everything.

Republicans are doing it right now with vote-rigging. If they actually manage to rig (again not just gerrymandering but full-scale fake counting) the vote, and years from now itā€™s finally so obvious they canā€™t deny it, theyā€™ll just pivot to ā€œLol at you for thinking the vote was ever not rigged. Get over it lib.ā€

If my choice is what your are proposing or believing that there are ZERO timelines where democracy holds I will take the former every time.

If I personally believed we were already in WWIII would it be helpful to post it ad nauseum in this forum?

Yeah! And the British empire brought civilisation to all those backward countries. They should be grateful.

Venting is good, because thereā€™s ~nothing we can do.

My post doesnā€™t even come close to making this claim.

I guess if enough people agree with you it might start to.

If I were discussing in good faith, my best guess is the closest we get to making these judgements is whether or not the US has upgraded its MO from the British Empire.

You guys know way more than me so you get more say so than I do.

Just kind of sucks that 2 party rule is destroying the power of metaphysical belief. I guess we just have to wait on the scientists to tell us its real. Thatā€™s probably when it all goes boom.

This is a really weird super right wing pro military take. Either way I made no such claim anywhere.

Genuinely curious. What is the plan to stop the gop?

I donā€™t see one at all.

Again I hope I am wrong.

Socialist democracies have either benefited from the power of the US military or they have not.

Ascribing that belief to partisanship is just a cheap shot aimed at undermining my credibility.

The true answer is hope that the transfer of global power to China happens soon and without too much violence and that they install a more liberal set of overlords. Itā€™s a very faint hope but itā€™s there.

RT if you agree

Donā€™t see this happening, mainly because they arenā€™t doing things 80% of people donā€™t like.

Catface said it best awhile ago: Poll questions like ā€œdo you support Medicare for Allā€ and ā€œdo you think Roe v Wade should be overturnedā€ or a whole host of others mean absolutely nothing unless the answer to that question would change someoneā€™s vote.
