Precedent is the heart of a common law system. The desire is for rulings to be predictable and consistent and not arbitrary.

This Constitution, and the Laws of the United States which shall be made in Pursuance thereof; and all Treaties made, or which shall be made, under the Authority of the United States, shall be the supreme Law of the Land; and the Judges in every State shall be bound thereby, any Thing in the Constitution or Laws of any State to the Contrary notwithstanding.

Strict Constitutionalists, when it suits them

Man why didn’t the confederacy think of this one?

Kinda hope this gets appealed to the Supreme Court. Then we either find out that scotus declares the federal government doesn’t exist and every state is instantly its own independent nation, or they strike this down and we get one of the greatest tests ever of the “fuck you, make me” defense.

They did, it was called Nullification.

Have you tried therapy?

It was a reasonable question for him to ask me, even if I was really just pointing out what the worst clinic protest looks like.

18 years of it so far

There was no explanation, and I took it as you advocating/justifying bombing

I’m not condemning bombing.

In which case I feel like a dick. I am sorry.

Looks directly into camera with mawkish little old lady drawl: how would you feel if your kids couldn’t play in the street :sob::sob::sob:

That is horrendous.

It’s quite stark to see that the US and Mexico are going in opposite directions over this issue, despite the US’s population being more in favor of abortion access than Mexico’s.

With the new legislation, the law redefines the term abortion .[25] An abortion is the legal termination of a pregnancy of 13 weeks of gestation or more.[25] During the first 12 weeks of gestation, the procedure is labeled the "legal termination of pregnancy’.[25] In addition, the term pregnancy was officially defined as beginning when the embryo is implanted in the endometrium.[25] This helps to determine gestational age, and, according to the research team of Maria Sanchez Fuentes, “implicitly legitimizes any post-coital contraceptive method, including emergency contraception … and assisted reproduction (including infertility treatments such as IVF) and stem-cell research”.[25] Women charged with having an illegal abortion have their sentences reduced, and the penalty for forcing a woman to have an abortion against her own will, which includes her partner or a physician, is increased.[25] If physical violence is involved, the penalty is even higher.[25] Furthermore, the law explicitly states that sexual and reproductive health are a priority in health services, with the goal of preventing unwanted pregnancies and sexually transmitted infections (STIs).[25]

Umm, wow. Competent, straightforward, fair policy at a national level on a difficult issue. Imagine that.

Whether the act passes is irrelevant. What matters is creating ammo that can be used in the midterms by forcing a vote.
