I mean, the problem is that all of the “but they’re less bad,” arguments just got stronger. As soon as the GOP has a federal trifecta and 50 votes in the Senate (and they’ve got Manchin and Casey on this issue), abortion will be illegal nationwide in some form (they may be limited under reconciliation but they can make it very hard to provide abortions legally).
This is the guy who’s #1 legislative priority was bringing back the uncapped SALT deduction.
