The number one characteristic to be an elected republican is to be very stupid. This is all just a huge show for them to prove to their constituents that they are the dumbest people alive and thus garner votes.
Its ok to just pretend to be stupid, but I think alot of them become genuinely stupider over time. If you always acting one way you will train yourself to instinctively actually be that way.

Conspiracy-theorist me: Thomas is already gone and theyāre hiding it until Jacksonās hearing is over. OR Heās hiding and working out a deal to retire in exchange for his wife not getting charged.
Realist me: Heās still in the hospital but they donāt want to overshadow Jacksonās hearing.
WAAF me: Thomas gets the best treatment, comes out alive and healthy as a horse, and lives for 20 more years.

If heās in the hospital, giving that update wouldnāt overshadow the hearings. And it would be less strange and attention-grabbing than refusing to update.
If heās home recovering, theyād obviously update that barring extenuating circumstances.

This would be a tectonic shift in the next 20 years of American politics if he died. Like suddenly Roberts would be back to being the swing vote and sanity would prevail on a lot of these absurd cases, and maybe just maybe the election-related cases would only be absurd āfuck you lolā rulings like half the time instead of 90%.
Plus only needing to bink one seat instead of two to flip the court back is a massive EV boost.
Also if the Garland DOJ and Biden administration had the stones to pull a move like this, holy shit. I mean they donāt, butā¦ If they did Iād have to completely re-evaluate.
