Wakatakakage officially withdrew from the July (Nagoya) Basho. He was sidelined after undergoing emergency surgery on July 1 for acute compartment syndrome in his left thigh to prevent muscle necrosis, and he remains hospitalized.

God I have been sleeping on the sumo, need to get back in the game.
Fantastic basho despite the two yokozunas performing terribly. The top (5?) guys are so interesting right now. If they can get healthy, should be some really exciting sumo to round out the year.
