The Sumo Thread

It’s all in Japanese but here are some screenshots from the video:

Not my beautiful boy Kise, this sucks.

Rikishi eating revolving sushi. I’m usually good for 10-12 plates max.

And just like that, Osaka basho is upon us. Let’s see how Hoshoryu fares as a freshly minted Yokozuna.

To get us in the mood here’s Isegahama-beya competing in an intra-heya sports competition (includes English subtitles)!

Well that didn’t last long. After an embarrassing 5-4 start to his Yokozuna career, Hosh has picked up his marbles and gone kyujo.

Pathetic.

Another Takayasu heartbreak basho. At least Onosato’s win puts him on track to join Hoshoryu with the rope.

MOTHERFUCKER THISIS THE WORST TIMELINE

I really thought he was going to do it. I didn’t even jinx him this time. It was just a thought in the back of my head.

Five days later and I’m still feeling gutted. He really let it slip away on Day 14 against Churanoumi, a game opponent but one he is better than. Just don’t think it’s meant to be.

But Onosato winning the yusho isn’t a bad consolation.

The May Basho is just one week away!

PS: Rikishi are strong!

Honestly impressive how fast these guys drop the weight when they aren’t guzzling down mass quantities of beer and chanko anymore.

Aonishiki looks like the real deal.

Onosato is in great position to take the basho and become the next Yokozuna. With a two-win lead over the field he can even afford to drop one over the last four days and still get it done.

Sumo fans of the Forum, we have our next Yokozuna!

Too long since we’ve had a new one.
