You have to be pretty deep into Trumpaverse lore to even remember the drunk Huckabee replacement, but she has a book out:

Bated breath

i am not going to be surprised

Things we already know about Donald Trump (that don’t seem to matter)

  1. Was recorded admitting a serious sexual assault
  2. Admitted sexual offences against minors at beauty pageants
  3. Credibly accused of rape by multiple women
  4. Credibly accused of child rape also hung out with Epstein on the reg
  5. Personally responsible for the deaths of a million+ people due to his handling (or not) of the covid pandemic
  6. A gigantic racist of the old school ‘blacks are just inferior’ variety
  7. Drove all of his previous businesses to bankruptcy through his of moronic incompetence only kept afloat financially as a vessel for mob money laundering
  8. Is a personally disgusting freak with weird habits
  9. Can’t do basic multiplication

Can’t wait for these new scandals. They’re certain to totally change people’s opinion of trump.

I actually think Manchin will come up on price, not to $3.5 trillion but above where he is now. The real price is going to be chopping the legs off of the climate initiatives and a massive coal reboot.

Also gutting the tax stuff. Carried interest will stay, no meaningful estate tax changes, no money for enforcement, foreign loopholes remain, stepped up basis remains, etc.

i listened to an interesting economist who said he preferred a flat income tax but with a highly progressive estate tax. it’s like a balance where the flatter tax is offset by steeper other tax.

the fact that conservatives destroyed society by killing taxation on both categories of taxes is downright supervillain stuff.

on the other hand if most tax revenue is collected at time of death, it creates an even weirder situation of government being flush with money during pandemics.

Yeah, fair, paid for with more gimmicks vs. actual revenue raising for sure

They will just put their money elsewhere. Gotta tax these motherfucker while they’re alive

We already have a pretty progressive estate tax, but if you’re rich it’s very easy to structure your wealth such that it’s not in an estate when you die.

This is almost entirely the work of Reagan, both on the culture front (he really sold the lie that government is bad so middle class people should oppose big government) and policy (the highest marginal tax rate went from 70% to 28% in his Presidency).

"Hook me up a new revolution
Cause this one is a lie
We sat around laughin’ and watched the last one die… " FF

The estate tax is so easily evaded you have to be a god damn moron to have a big estate tax bill. LOL family farmsssssssssssss think of the farmers

I think it was someone here that pointed out just how many of the problems with this country today can be traced directly back to the Reagan administration.
